Frankly, if the truth were known, the families are probably happy he didn't show up. A sitting president attending a non state type funeral would be a logistical cluster fvck. Besides the fact the likelihood that none of them care for the Prez much.

for once we agree! obviously everyone is different, everyone grieves differently, but i feel like if it were my loved one the president attending (or other representatives of our government) would just not be wanted. it'd be too much of a logistical nightmare and spectacle in what is, to me at least, a personal time for family and friends.

And again I'll point out he skipped the funeral of a sitting Justice AND is also skipping Reagan's funeral within the matter of a few weeks. Where's your meme for that?

There's a saying if you're not sure you should go to the funeral, go to the funeral. It's okay to admit Obama is just a partisan hack. He wasn't too busy to attend the funeral of a man who filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act, was a recruiter for the Klan (which Bill Clinton brushed off as no biggie) & voted against both Thurgood Marshall & Clarence Thomas - who were on opposite sides of the political spectrum but had one outward similarity. Of course, that funeral was for a Democrat so I guess it's all good.

I never suggested he wasn't a political opportunist. But at the end of the day, my main assertion is that none of the families (Reagan, Scalia) really wanted him there anyway. Sitting presidents go to funerals to actually speak. Not be ornaments. (Like Michelle was).

Speaking of First Ladies. Did anyone see the disgust on the faces of Hillary and Michelle at Reagan's funeral yesterday, as the praises for Nancy (classy woman, loving devoted spouse, caring mother) came pouring down? Especially Hillary. The letters to Nancy from RR had to cut her to the bone when they were being read. Hills spent more time cleaning up after Bills whores.
