NBA Lottery

I was wrong...but chances Zion pulls a John Elway?
This topic is funny to me. It's just a topic to get people talking/clicking during a dead period, because the Warriors are going to win another title while playing better basketball with the best player in the league sitting out.

What is it about New Orleans? Not a historically major basketball franchise? Yeah, that's really killed Steph Curry in Golden State. Idk how Shaq/Dwight Howard ever got noticed in Orlando. Giannis is really struggling to make headlines in Milwaukee. I don't know if Damien Lillard would be considered one of the top PGs in the NBA if he played for a small market team....just imagine how little coverage Russell Westbrook would get if he didn't play in that basketball mecca, OKC...and I'm sure Paul George stayed there because it's so rich & dense in basketball. Kawhi Leonard is one of the top players in the NBA...playing in Canada. Klay Thompson is killing it as Steph/Durant's sidekick in Golden State too. Best big man in the game now? Nikola Jokic, in Denver, from Serbia.

Sorry, Zion. You're now in the pros and will have to work your ass off to get on the level with those guys I just mentioned. You don't get to choose what team/coach you go to anymore than they did. You go where you go and you must make something of it to possibly become an attractive free agent after 4 years, if you wish to leave. Or I guess he could always go back to Duke and attempt to make it to the Final Four....

I'm not claiming Shaq was better. I was showing that Shaq's numbers were closer to Kareem's than Kareem's were to Jordan's.

My argument was that the graphic was stupid to people with a little common sense. If somebody plays 50% more games, they have a huge advantage when looking at cumulative numbers for a career. It's a horrible measure of what the graphic was attempting to show.

Other than free throw percentage, Shaq's numbers per game were either very close or better than Kareem's . . . end of discussion. Had Kareem been born ten years earlier, Chamberlain would have exposed him as the bitch that he was.
Had Chamberlein been born 10 years later he would have went up against Alcindor and not just Bill Russell once in a blue moon.

Who are you kidding? Chamberlain's first two games against Kareem:

Game 1: 25 points, 25 rebounds, 64% shooting
Game 2: 28 points, 23 rebounds

And that was when Wilt was way past his prime.

Wilt's career scoring average was more than all except for two of Kareem's season averages. Wilt's career rebound average was six rebounds more than Kareem's best season average.

Wilt led the league in scoring seven times. Kareem did it twice.

Wilt led the league in rebounding eleven times, the last three of which was while Kareem was in the league. Kareem led the league in rebounding once.

Wilt led the league in field goal percentage nine times, the last two of which were while Kareem was in the league. Kareem led the league in field goal percentage once.

This isn't even a remotely close comparison.

Kareem played in a better era across his career in terms of going against better centers.

Plus, you need to remember part of Kareems career he was on a team with Magic, Worthy, Sam Perkins, Byron Scott, Cooper, and last but not least Kurt Rambis. They had Jamaal Wilkes for a time period as well. Now think about trying to score a bunch a points on that team.

Bob McAdoo became Kareem's backup(he was a MVP) and then they got Mychal Thompson at Lotto pick when he came in.

I laugh when I hear all this shit about Golden State being the best ever. Damn people did you all ever see the great Lakers, Celtics, and Bulls teams? Not a chance. Curry would have got broke in half.

Wilt's career scoring average.
I heard he scored with over 10,000 chicks during his playing time. That's like 500 per year. I thought I was special when I had a dozen one year (thanks internet), but I was no match for Wilt. Plus, he probably had me by 16 inches.

Can you imagine when the women saw that thing. Dropped it out like Man O War. He probably had another 1,000 that ran.

My senior year of football, we had this sophomore brother on the team, and after practice, if you dropped the soap, you didn't dare bend over to pick it up. He ended up with a few nicknames, thumper and tri-pod. Imagine how all us white guys felt.

Game, set, match:

“LeBron James was talking about how he’s the best ever, but he never saw Wilt play. If he had, he wouldn’t say that. Whenever he averages 55 points a game, then I might want to listen to what he has to say."

- Kareem

we had a guy in basic and he was one of the brothers. He could helicopter it and damn near looked like a lasso. I felt like I was handicapped or didn't develop properly or something.

Kareem can say that. But many historians say different. He is being humble. He is a peaceful muslim. The historians and experts of the game rank him ahead of Wilt.

Pffft. It's no secret that Kareem and Wilt don't like each other. Wilt blasted Kareem's career openly in the media, and Kareem blasted back in an open letter. Wilt named his dog "Kareem" and Kareem called Shaq and Wilt "just big bullies."

Willis Reed said that Wilt was not only better than Kareem defensively but was also the better overall player. Bill Russell said the same.

Not only has Kareem admitted that Wilt was better than him, but he has also argued that Wilt was better than Jordan. Kareem's open letter to Scottie Pippen after Pippen called Jordan the best:

"I have nothing but respect for you my friend as an athlete and knowledgeable basketball mind. But you are way off in your assessment of who is the greatest player of all time and the greatest scorer of all time. Your comments are off because of your limited perspective. You obviously never saw Wilt Chamberlainplay who undoubtedly was the greatest scorer this game has ever known. When did MJ ever average 50.4 points per game plus 25.7 rebounds? (Wilt in the 1962 season when blocked shot statistics were not kept). We will never accurately know how many shots Wilt blocked. Oh, by the way in 1967 and 68, Wilt was a league leader in assists. Did MJ ever score 100 points in a game? How many times did MJ score more than 60 points in a game? MJ led the league in scoring in consecutive seasons for 10 years but he did this in an NBA that eventually expanded into 30 teams vs. when Wilt played and there were only 8 teams.

Every team had the opportunity to amass a solid nucleus. Only the cream of the basketball world got to play then. So MJ has to be appraised in perspective. His incredible athletic ability, charisma and leadership on the court helped to make basketball popular around the world -- no question about that. But in terms of greatness, MJ has to take a backseat to The Stilt."

So, that still doesn't mean historians and others think Wilt was better.

Lebron is one reason I stopped watching the NBA. That's another reason he is not the GOAT. People wanted to see Jordan. Lebron is a douchebag
