New contract for Grassie

According to the box scores, the total attendance of all home matches this year was 1701. The low attendance was 104 and the high was 500. With a salary of $375,000 that is only $220 per ticket to break even. They are definitely chasing the "Image and Exposure" aspect of the soccer program.

You forgot that big time COVID restrictions were i place. Limited seating plus the weather sucked for many matches.
I have no doubt our fans will fill the place next fall and then some.

I haven’t heard, but for most other sports there’s some sort of compensation for advancing in the post season or post season success like bowl game payouts. Not sure how, or if, this is in play for soccer.

Grassie got 10K for winning the conference championship then 10K for each victory in tournament then 10K for winning championship. I believe those numbers are accurate

I had read that, but I was meaning more for the university. Like a bowl payout or the NCAA pool they distribute for basketball.

It would have been sweeet if we could've earned units as we progressed through the tourney like it is in basketball......As it is? The value of this cannot be measured, but I estimate it's on up there....whether that be higher caliber recruits going forward or just the worth of being a nationally recognized force in men's soccer..

I listened to Grassies interview yesterday on Soccer Matters and one of the questions was about recruiting. Grassie talked about how hard it was to get players here, and how he and the staff had to get creative because if a bigger school came around they automatically lost.

He said that - that’s already changing based on calls from some bigger recruits wanting to come here and players from the portal reaching out. He said that he now believes he can compete with the other top programs to get a top player out of places like Columbus Crew.

2019 Pre Covid numbers were about 275 on a weekday and 650 on a weekend The UK game drew 2032. I would anticipate the attendance will stay about the same. You either love soccer or you hate it. I was even switching back and forth during the championship game. Unless you love it, it is a pretty boring sport to watch.

I would say we’ll see a jump from students and soccer fans in general who may know the game but never took the time to attend for various reasons. The fans will show and support the program via the Corner Kick Club - which is growing very fast.
It’s not for everybody. Sorta like I think NASCAR is stupid and the NBA way overrated.
