New Info is Bad

"According to the NFL Draft results it appears none of the teams selected any Marshall University Bisons."

Quality research right there.

That's what I was thinking, too. We had 1 player drafted and no idea where someone would get that as our mascot name/nickname. Couple of really easy misses there.

The "article" is poorly written, poorly researched, and honestly comes across as though it was written without speaking to anyone involved. Add to that that it's on the Daily Beast, an OPINION site, and you have all you need. Not trying to take any heat off of Butler, he's clearly guilty and had to go, but this "article" is a joke in and of itself.

Just look at the small bio on the authors page, "M.L. Nestel is a Senior Writer who came to The Daily Beast from the international news site Vocativ, where he also served under the same title. A native of Los Angeles, M.L. is one of a select few who have reported for all three New York City tabloids including: the New York Post, the New York Daily News and Newsday"

The thing is.. the vast majority of people who will read this won't know any of those things.. Still a black eye for Marshall when ever someone stumbles across this

It is not our coaches job to handle police investigations.

Our coaches were in the right for not giving up the name of our player who did nothing wrong. Not only that, it is very possible that you can not tell for sure who it is. No reason for coaches to say anything unless they know 100% without a doubt.

I'm NOT a lawyer but isn't it every citizen's responsibility to aid police investigations?

Knowingly misleading police or failing to be truthful can lead to obstruction charges.

I have no idea what the real facts are in this case but I have previously cautioned against a rush to judgment. Let's let the entire facts of the case be presented.

But I can't accept any rationalization of not cooperating with police investigations.

Why a police detective would give up this kind of info some unknown reporter makes no sense. Why hasn't any of the WV media jumped on this? Sperry sounds like he would like to nail the football program big time. Almost a little animosity in his tone of the article if this is indeed true.

I would bet 100 bucks that Sperry (whom I know) is being misquoted intentionally. Did you notice the quote where he says "... will be treated as a hate crime," ends in a comma, not a period? What came after the comma? Maybe it was "if the investigators find reasonable cause."

This was hack journalism at it's finest. I am embarrassed for the writer.

Sperry is an excellent, veteran cop. He knows what he is doing.

.

I have no idea if he was misquoted or not. But, how else would you end that sentence? You couldn't end it with a period unless you mentioned who was talking at the beginning of the sentence. And there are plenty of quite damning quotes from him which do end in periods.

I'm curious to know if doc had seen the video before the spring game.

I don't know and neither do you which really is the entire point of all of this. We don't know everything and probably never will so it's sort of silly for any of us to assume.

All I know is what I saw on the video and that alone was enough for me to say he needs to be gone.

Vast Majority? Not many people look at the Beast for their News.

I haven't seen any mention of Det. Sperry's quotes concerning the staff hindering the investigation on any other news sites. It's too early to be certain, but I suspect that isn't factual. You know that ESPN at least would've jumped all over it.

This is how well researched the story is: "According to the NFL Draft results it appears none of the teams selected any Marshall University Bisons." Thats directly from the article.

If what is stated in this article, that Marshall staff purposely hindered this investigation after seeing the video, then heads must roll.

If this investigator is willing to make that claim, which according to the article he is, this could and should get really ugly:

Just wanted to come here to give my support to butler and the Marshall coaches. I will be honest in am a wvu fan and never thought I would support marshall. However this time I am 100 percent behind them. We don't need or want men kissing in public. Hopefully marshall does not give into libs on this one.

Hence, why I said "if what is stated in this article . . . "

I don't see anyone jumping to conclusions, assuming, or flipping the switch to the electric chair. It is fair to discuss what the article quotes the investigator as saying.

I believe this is the only source claiming this. None of the others I've seen have. It has several statments that are off base and heavily opinionated.

If there was any hint in Huntington that there was interference in the investigation by coaches, Landon would be all over this. It appears to be a hack ob by a tabloid writer who doesn't know the Bison from The Thundering Herd.

Worst attempt at trolling ever.
Not trolling at all. Why is it a troll to think that something as grotesque as two men kissing is wrong. Do I think that people should just attack people no. I believe the government should pass laws against public homosexuality acts.

I didn't say that they did.. BUT the vast majority of the people WHO DO (and they are out there) will take it as the gospel

Guys, The Daily Beast is one of the most well-known left-leaning political web sites along with Politico and The Huffington Post. Their contributors appear regularly on all the cable news networks. If you watch Fox you will no doubt recognize the names Kirsten Powers (Bill O'Reilly, Outnumbered, Special Report) and Nick Gillespie (Red Eye). Just FYI.

$20 the daily beast just removes their article without one peep of a correction.

Gee, I wonder why they thought Marshall's mascot was a bison...

I can assure you Det Sperry is not out to hurt Marshall as he and his family are all huge Marshall fans. That said...he does his job with integrity.

I believe the government should pass laws against public homosexuality acts. The problem the government has failed to do its job so people are frustrated when they should garbage like two men kissing and take the law into their own hands. People should be arrested and publicly flogged for public homosexuality acts. No I am not trolling I believe what I wrote.

You should catch the first flight to Moscow......Putin could put you in charge of public floggings.

So I guess Alabama is the Fighting Elephants, UNC would be the Rams, and Stanford the Evergreen Trees.

You, along with the writer of the original article, are a friggin moron.

Not here to start a squabble, but a look at his arrest record what is he doing on the team ?

We all have bad apples, I mean WVU had a 315 lineman kick in the door of a 120 pound female just a week ago.

Yeah, but that doesn't count. She knew he was big, had a temper, and that his possessions were inside the apartment. It was her fault . . . or does that only apply when it is black vs. white, like in your defense of ISIS?

Irrelevant? Let's compare:

You stated that you didn't blame nor fault the alleged ISIS attack on the culprits. You said that you blame the racist people who put on the event because they knew that ISIS wasn't to be messed with and were baiting them.

This wvu girl knew the football player. She knew what he was capable of. A person just doesn't flip out and break down doors without showing signs of having a temper or being aggressive and crazy. By not allowing him to get his possessions and making him mad, she was baiting him into doing what he did. She knew he was capable of it.

See how dumb your ISIS comments are?
