NHR - Football is in Trouble

Just one can have a serious, lasting effect on health. At a young age, the cranium is not fully developed enough to protect the brain.
I played football all through my youth. I've had 2 concussions in my life...one from a bike wreck, and one from a rough landing during a C-130 jump in the Army. While a concussion is very serious, the helmets are much better now, and the process to get a player to where they are able to play after a concussion is a HUGE step in the right direction.

Helmets dont do anything to prevent concussions

You sound like the kind of mom who probably doesn't let your kid have gluten, watch cartoons or ride their bicycle...

Just kidding man...

I totally understand that concussions among youth are a serious concern. But as a parent, I am willing to let my kid do an activity they actually want to do. A kid could (and most will) fall off a piece of playground equipment, trip in the school hallway, catch the backswing of a wiffle ball bat, any number of things to wreck their domes, life happens... My little brother never played sports and has had one head injury in his life. It was because our garage floor was wet and he slipped getting out of my dads truck. A concussion and 9 stitches later, he recovered.

White moms and the helicopter parents of suburbia and parents of Generation Vagina are not going to let little Johnny play football. Their dads have no nut sacks to tell mom no.
I'd rather have you accusing me of having no nut sack than have my son running around not knowing his own name, being suicidal, or having knee replacements in his 40s or 50s.

Yeah because every boy that ever played football is walking around like that

Oh, it goes beyond that. I understand the concern for a child's long term health. I even stated that I understand why someone would not let their son play football until 8th grade or so. I get that.

But, this country is raising a generation of sissies. This is just a small part of it.

I totally agree! My oldest son played football from the time that he was old enough to play and is now a college OL that scored a 28 on the ACT. Chad Pennington was a Rhodes Scholar candidate. I'm not denying concussions, because they can and do happen. That said, people also drown and I let my kids go swimming and take a bath(Whitney Houston). Our own Reggie Oliver played football for years, yet was ultimately killed by a fall at the house. You can't live life scared of what "might" happen.

My grandpa used to say all the time when he was about to do something borderline dangerous that my grandma wouldn't approve of – "Patti, a bus running a red light is more likely to kill me than (insert activity)."

Some people play football and get hurt... Most people play football and live long productive lives.

My dad was killed in a car wreck, yet I still drive a car. Your grandpa was a wise man.

The human race does not fundamentally change from one generation to the next. Biologically, there is no difference between the people walking around right now and the people who were pooping in holes in the ground and trying to solve psychological disorders with leeches 500 years ago.

What changes are the circumstances around us: how much violence and danger exists in the world, how much competition exists for resources - basically how difficult it is for a person to live comfortably and execute their life processes (i.e. reproduction).

Today social media exacerbates our innate desire to believe that things are worse than they've ever been, and are deteriorating. While we are more convinced than ever that things are getting ready to fall off a cliff, the conditions of life are better for human beings worldwide than they've ever been in the 135,000 years or so of homo sapiens walking around and naming things they don't own.

My Dad wasn't soft, he was a pretty hard guy, but a lot of that had to do with him getting yanked out of his life at 22 and dropped into a jungle in east Asia. I'm soft as f---ing raw cookie dough, but I also don't have nightmares about burying myself in a hole waiting for the mortars to stop. His grandson is probably going to be even softer than me, despite the fact that both of us aren't anything more than newer, alive-ier copies of him.

Every generation believes the subsequent generation they produce is corrupted, but the rats are always the same - its the maze that changes.

You're correct. My grandpa hated my dad's music of the 70s/80s and my dad hates mine. My grandpa also wanted my dad to work in the cornfield instead of playing sports in high school. He thought my dad's generation was shit. My dad thinks the same about today's generation and I have to continually remind him of what his dad thought about his and he gives me one of those, "you're right" laughs every time.

But also, more & more men are being raised by single women because cowards keep running out on their responsibilities. That factors into the equation too.

Congratulations to you and your son. You've mentioned that your son is a college football player four times in the last week and 3,294 times over the last few months. To save you from having to keep typing it, I can show you how you can put it under your avatar so it appears with each post you make if you'd like.

About 30 people have survived jumps from the Golden Gate Bridge. That doesn't mean it's recommended to jump from it.

Just because there aren't major, negative results from doing something every time doesn't mean it is worthwhile to do. Plenty of people snort coke on a daily basis and proceed in life just fine. Plenty of people are fully-functioning alcoholics. Plenty of people do this stuff for decades and never have to pay the price for it. However, the risk isn't worth the reward for many other people.

Faulting parents for not wanting their children to play football until their cranium develops more isn't just being safe, it is also being smart. There are many risks associated with allowing young children to play tackle football, one of which, is not remembering that you have posted the same damn thing about a son numerous times over the last week.

Sounds like you got a little sand in your vagina there. I'm proud to be raising MEN. I have a mental picture of you typing away being the keyboard warrior you portray wearing your skinny jeans and sporting a man bun.

I can't remember - does your son play college football? You haven't reminded us in the last thirty minutes.

You can tout your manhood as much as you want, but creating mental images of what I, another guy, looks like seems contrary to your boast.

Oh, and your son playing college football, having been allowed to play football by his parents at a young age, etc. does not automatically qualify him as the manliness of men.

The game will eventually be played by robot players. Football has three attractions; violence, gambling, and alcohol consumption. All three can continue without human player involvement.

Guessing you also own an, "I'm with her", shirt? I believe that you have criticized others for raising men and letting their kids play sports. Go crawling back to your safe space now.

I've had five. Worst and last one as an adult. Was it the worst because I am older? Maybe. It still affects me; if I am counting 100 of something, I sometimes go blank around 60 or 70. I used to never do that before that last concussion.

Even with the better helmets there is still the issue of repeated concussions. A dozen little ones are worse than one big one. I don't know how we fix that.

Rifle - homophobic, much?

Like usual, you'd be wrong. I criticized people for criticizing parents who won't let their young children play tackle football. I didn't criticize parents for allowing their young children to play football. There is a big difference.

.

I was going to send you one, but I couldn't find a XXXXXXXL to fit you:

Speaking of shirts, you have no fewer than a dozen pictures in South Carolina t-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hats, logos, etc., yet not a single one with anything Marshall related.

Why are you even here considering your fandom is overwhelmingly in support of a team that Marshall plays this year? Go associate with your fellow 'cocks.

The guy you shared a pic of is the JROTC instructor at Aynor High School in South Carolina. I make fun of him a lot too....so I guess we have that in common. He has a picture of a gamecock and a "Loyal for Life" sticker on his truck....so like you, he really loves the cocks too.

No, that was my point. He presents himself as the manly-man, pro-right, tough, no-man-bun-allowed guy. His fantasizing about what I look like seems contrary to the act he tries to portray.
....and if you want to post some pics of me, I'm only on Twitter now. Fantasize away....
