It’s almost like Elmore hitting a 28 foot trey in crunch time. He is backpedaling and holding his right index finger to his lips.....but on this board he is shushing our “reality” fans! We are a very fickle bunch. Huge road win vs a team we definitely don’t like that hadn’t lost at home all season, and one small discussion?
This was a BIG confidence booster for the team, esp the younguns. Kinsey and Beyers starting to show off like we hoped they would. I am still waiting on CJ to get going, and neither he nor 33 are connecting on many 3’s. But heading into a very winnable game in CLT, DD is working his philosophy. Also, # of turnovers and fouls were phenomenal. Rotation settling in.
Go Herd!

Take it in stride. It's a good win. Looks as if some gel together.

Concerning side:

We did shoot 56%, +13% above our average. That helped a lot in the win, can we replicate that game in and game out? Doubt it.

Still, was out rebounded and only won by three points in the last second. ODU missed 4-5 FT's in the last minute and a half. They make a couple of more FT the outcome may had been different. People are saying 3-9 Charlotte is a definitive win. I say, not so fast, looking at their schedule they have played some dam good teams in the 9 loss record.

Good win, but rebounds are still a concern.

johns - def agree about the rebounding. I like Kinseyand Beyers in that regard. If CJ and Jon start shooting the ball better, we will be very competitive. One more thing: Jarred West is a baller! Ice water in his veins....

The silence is deafening, isn't it? Critics are looking for perfection...or at least their opinion of it. "Yeah, we won...but there were some statistical categories that we lost"...smh. Good road conference win. The guys needed it. We should start conference play no worse than 4-1. WKU is home, but will be tough regardless of where we play them.

I did not notice the "silence". What do you want people to say? This is a nice win, and TIME WILL TELL, if it is an aberration in an awful year; an up in and up and down season of an inconsistent team that lives by and dies by the 3 (my bet) ; or the actual start of this crew overcoming a failed non-conference segment and living up to their pre-season hype.

Plenty of time for that.

Of course not Sam - you and a good chunk of this board hold to the following rule: After any loss, immediately start a woe is us thread & pile on with a plethora of castigations of DD, the team, one hit wonders, hillbilly ball can’t possibly succeed year in year out, Dan can’t win recruiting the 304 etc. After an unexpected win over one of the top 4 teams in CUSA in their house, where we very rarely win: .....crickets + hope no one notices...that way the important conference win is minimized while waiting to pounce on the next loss. There is a definite pattern....argue away!

Are you kidding? I would have rather MU shot 44% and won by 6-8, then 52% and won by a last second three. It tells me they are doing other things right in order to win. Take Mon. VA shot 53% in a 40 point route. What do we get for 52.7? Three point and a tough one at that.

Most college teams FG% is around 34-40% not very high. Until last night MU was only at 32%. For a fast pace scoring team? That's Terrible! Stats tell you a lot in sports; especially, if you know the sport.

I think we'll be fine going forward in conference play. We're now playing teams that are more our contemporaries. For whatever reason this team be it the players or the system just do not match up well with the teams from the so-called power conferences. I think we'll get on a roll and probably enter the conference tournament as a 2 or a 3 seed.

Last night wasn't different because we won. Last night was different because there was a lot more perimeter pressure & our defensive rotations were much tighter. The pick & roll was alive last night and the help defense from the 2nd pass away got burned when it cheated (how West got his open 3).

Basically, we looked like our former selves last night. Nothing to gloat about. But something that was definitely a sight for sore eyes after watching the discombobulated mess that our offense has been so far this season. Last night was the intricate offense most people laugh about. Ball movement, quick/precise reads, and attacking :10 into the shot clock. Kinsey playing the 4 and putting him into some of our PnR situations, while allowing Jannson to spot up helped with this. Beyers also seemed to come on a little.

Need to see repeat performances, but last night felt good.

The pass was low & he still managed to grab it, get set, & shoot. The only way that would have been more impressive would have been for him to hit it running out of bounds Double Dribble style.

Another road win, and the noise-cancelling headphones are on! A loss would have produced multiple threads calling for Danny to be retired, the team isn’t in shape, what’s wrong with xxxx & hillbilly ball sucks! We are a strange bunch indeed. On the bright side, Clarence Woodworth, Esq has decided to appear, even if only to like a comment about WVU football, so there’s that!

GREAT REPORT W-Salem.
.....also good to chat with you before the game. Charlotte is GOOD at home and like DD said to us (family) after the game......"I'm happy Davis is a senior---he has killed us for years"....and...."Charlotte played much better than they showed us on film"----"they have a very good [new] Coach and he will build their program....which is good for CUSA."

Putting out a BOLO for silent Sam! You OK out there brother?

Sure. When have I not been? The last thing anyone can accuse me of is posting too little.

Coming off a one-point win over 3-10 UNCC the Herd finally returns home (and BTW, who scheduled the Globetrotters in the big red barn on a Herd home night, and does that not breach the "gentlemen's agreement" between MU and the city? ) and faces an somewhat equally up and down and also failing to live up to pre-season hype WKU that just assreamed UNCC by 18 and then lost to ODU by 3, but which has wins over mediocre WVU and Arkansas from "name" conferences, as well as a ranked (at the time) Wisconsin. MU is coming off its longest road trip since Cam Henderson's era. The chairbacks are sold out for the first time in a long time.

Has this team turned the corner and overcome what can only be called a totally failed non-conference period? Or is it and up and down team that lives and dies by the 3 and which is capable of beating any CUSA team, or losing to ANY CUSA team? Time will tell.

The Red Barn is no longer Orange.
Please try to stay up to date. :D

Not unusual about events at Big Sandy the night of basketball games. I remember a few years ago tat we had a home game the same night of a concert there and one at Keith Albee all at the same time.
If you want concerts/ Globetrotters, you have to take them when they come through the area. Not much of a choice on Big Sandy's end.
