In 2010, Perez was convicted on a cocaine charge, had his green card revoked and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. After serving half his sentence, he was transferred to an immigration detention center.

I'll give some illegals some leeway if they choose to join the military and fight for our country. They should be fast tracked to citizenship in my opinion. That's not the case at the current time and he broke the law and now must face the consequences of his actions.

I’m as pro-military as they come, but serving in the military doesn’t give you the right to break the law.

While Perez was convicted of delivering less than 100 grams of cocaine, prosecutors have said he was arrested for delivering much more and received a reduced sentence after a plea deal. Prosecutors also pointed out that Perez was given a general discharge from the military after a drug infraction.
I do tend to agree with your point of him being here since he was 11. Leave it to CNN and libs, though, to utilize this situation to spread their political agenda all the while leaving out the drug details specifically related to his discharge from the service.

Part of him gaining citizenship is he must not commit a felony. I feel for the kid since he served in the army, but he was not a citizen. Thus deported after getting busted for cocaine possession.
he was kicked out of the service for drug related issue. and, it wasn't merely possession . . . was distribution.
So what about the mental health issue involved with this case? PTSD, head injuries as a result of military service, are we going to defer that to the Mexican government to handle?

An army vet with two tours under his belt, a diagnosis of PTSD with a head injury. I’d be curious to know what some VFW, Am Vets, etc type agencies would think about this particular case. I get the drug charges, etc

I don’t know, to me it’s a lot like the African Americans who served our country and were not afforded the same rights back stateside when they returned. I think if you put on a uniform you should be granted the same rights as the citizens you swore to protect.
