I thought this was funny and enlightening.

My folks live outside of Knoxville so they decided on a whim to go to the game yesterday. My dad is a casual Marshall watcher, and a rabid football fan (Pitt Panthers, Tennessee Titans). Here were his observations, as a program outsider, from yesterday.

1. If your gameplan doesnt include using Gaines and Levias, then your gameplan sucks. "The big tight end made the best play of the season in the first quarter and his reward was never getting the ball again and the Gaines kid is the best athlete on the field and he only gets it if they run wildcat."

2. We are reinventing soft zone defense. "Ive never seen a defense play so much zone, where nobody actually covers anybody. They run to a spot because they think thats where they are supposed to be with no regard for what the offense is actually doing."

3. It seems odd that Doc wont make any changes. "If you play a QB, and he is bad for two staright weeks, shouldnt you play someone else? Hell, put Gaines back there and go 1950s wing-t if you have to. Try something."

Thats all from a guy with no fanboy glasses on.
