This is the only game this year I will not pick the Herd to win:

Boise 34
Marshall 24

I was kind of hoping Boise would suffer the True Freshman Second game jitters and throw a lot of picks to MU …. after watching his poise at FSU, that's not happening.

I'll be interested to watch this game. I don't think the Herd will win, but hope they can make a great showing.

God. I miss the days when I had to tell people to stop drinking the green kool aid in these kind of threads...

44-24 Boise

Going to be a good one.
Expect it closer than spread.
Two good defenses.
Over is currenly @ 55
I'll take the under.
Boise - 28
Marshall - 24

What is our record west of the Missisipp? Not good, but not a goose egg either, no?

I know back in the day we beat SF Austin in the IAA playoffs....

Far from a goose egg. We won the New Mexico bowl, beat Tulsa in 13, Rice in 12 and mcneese st back in 1-AA playoffs.

Your question caught my interest so I looked in the record book for the overall record in games played west of the Mississippi River. From my quick research,

MU's record West of the Mississippi: 7-19

MU has wins against: McNeese, K-State, Rice (2), Tulane, Tulsa, & Colorado State.

MU has losses against: Louisiana Tech, UNLV, McNeese, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri, Boise State, Cincinnati (Bowl Game), UTEP (2), SMU (2), K-State, Houston (2), Rice, Tulsa (2), North Texas, & UTSA.

I say we schedule some games with the programs west of the Mississippi River and go get some more road wins to help even that overall record.

We are 3-6 in the Doc Era in games west of the Mississippi. All but one of those teams had a winning record, and the winning percentage of those opponents was 60.2%.
