If any of you don't frequent /r/cfb (www.reddit.com/r/cfb), then you're seriously missing out on the best general college football forum type community on the internet. It's a really great site.

Starting about 35 minutes ago, /r/cfb began what they're calling /r/CFB Brick Fund XI: Sharing is AmeriCaring. This is their 11th campaign to raise money to buy bricks on various college campuses and Marshall is part of it! The brick will end up on the Jimmy and Ralph May Wall of Legacy in front of The Joan.

Head on over to this link and read more about the overall project and goals, as well as to find the link to donate. Anything over the primary brick goals amounts will be donated to americares.

The fund raising effort has been up for about 39 minutes now and is already at $980.06, so chip in for a good cause!

I post over there all the time too. It really is the best place on the internet for college football.

The bricks are a common fundraising tool for college programs all around the country. You donate money, they put your name on a brick in a prominent place. Ours is adjacent to the main lot on the SW corner of the stadium.

R/CFB (the Reddit college football site) always raises money whenever schools are having these drives. They usually put a funny quote related to the team on the brick but also end up raising way more than the original cost of the brick and donate that money to a charity.

While we apparently haven't added any for awhile, our M Club agreed to do a special one for R/CFB since they are raising money for a flood relief charity that has done great work in West Virginia and Louisiana.

Forgive my ignorance @RedParallax but what is the significance of these bricks?

I'm not sure what you mean by significance. Schools raise a certain amount of money to give those donating an opportunity to have a brick placed somewhere on campus with whatever text they want (with school review/approval, of course). It's just a fun way for /r/cfb to participate and donate money to charity, if the money raised goes beyond what's needed for the bricks.

I wasn't sure if these bricks were for charity, your got your name or something on them, or if they were just raising money to buy bricks strictly for construction to help out.
