And honestly the losses could all be lopsided or worse than today. May be the worst team Doc has put on the field

Doc is a great recruiter, but not a great coach. Refresh my memory. What games has he won that he wasn't really supposed to win? What is his biggest win as a head coach?

I don't think Doc is a great coach at all. He is serviceable for the conference we are in. And we can't even dominate a subpar conference like CUSA.

Easily his best win was the one over Louisville down there with a young Cato at QB. Only win at the Joan over a "major"/Power 5 was last year's win over a pathetic Purdue team (10 loss team?). No other OOC big wins- - -losses at home to VA Tech, WVU, can't remember if he was coach, or Snyder, when we lost to Cincinnati on a Friday night. Believe he also lost big at Ohio State. Probably only other "big" game of note under Doc was our effort in bad weather conditions at VA Tech when we lost in triple ot. Except for 2014, conference games have been a mixed bag- - -horrendous losses against WKU, here, and MTSU, there, twice. We seem to be "hexed", so to speak, against those two conference foes like, maybe, we also appear to be against Ohio U, and Bowling Green (there) of the MAC, and now, maybe/sadly Akron!!!

MU is about 3 to 4 years of performances like yesterday before Doc's seat gets hot. But, in any event, 6-6 is about right. There are 5 more certain losses on the schedule, which means we cannot drop one game to one of the joke programs.

I agree with all of the comments on Doc but I bet we'll win 2 or 3 of those 5 tough games and heck....buy the end of the year we will have a decent size group of fans discussing what a great job Doc did with a young team to get second in the east....blah blah blah

Guys, we stunk it up, but look at yesterday. No one in CUSA set the world on fire. I am with all of you on being disgusted and disheartened. WKU struggled against hapless Miami, MTSU struggled against BG. No way we should have lost yesterday.......but we did. Our conference is terrible, if we go 6/6 this is worse than I thought

Hey man I agree with you. But the reality of the situation Beefcake is that there is a strong possibility this is a 6 win football team.

Doc has a proven track record of failing to have his team prepared for any MAC opponent - especially Ohio who owns Doc. Averted near disaster last year at Kent State. We open next year with Miami (OH) here. He's got plenty of time to try to get the team ready for yet another MAC opponent. Time will tell.

So question is, can he get the boys to right the ship, can they frigging go back to the drawing board with our d....

No. Just read. Watched us though-sadly.
While we didn't play worth a snot yesterday, them and most of the conference is much worse. Remember the beatings UCF would take from buffalo just to go on and win the conference? Yesterday the entire conference was horrible. The only two schools who saved face was UTSA and LT. The F_Us have been horrible.

I think we are lucky to have Doc. He's had some great Wins. Maryland Purdue Lousiville.

Still he didn't have his team ready v a MAC school again.

That's the rub, GreenhouseEffect. Doc's record of hardly EVER having a team ready for MAC and similar type opponents. Not just Ohio U. Look at last year when we were very, very fortunate to escape with an overtime win against what turned out to be a VERY MEDIOCRE Kent State team. Let's wait to see if Akron turns out to be world beaters, or, as I suspect, the Zips end up with 4 or 5 losses as another middle of the road MAC team. In conference, look how Doc's teams have looked in losing two games against so-so or slightly better Middle Tennessee teams on the road. Comedy of errors, missteps, shooting themselves in the foot, foolish penalties, etc., etc. Either poor coaching and preparation, or too many mental mistakes due to Prop factor, maybe, or a combination of both. You can say the same about a game or two we have blown down at UAB, too, when they were no more than marginal!!

Obviously, the MAC is a much better league at this point. Akron has been picked to finish 3rd in the East Division.

I say AT LEAST 7-5 if not 8-4. The WKU game is very winnable and the MTSU game is also winnable.

I am going with 7-5, two conference losses, I will stick with that. Sucks, I expected more this year.

It's obvious you haven't watched much football this year.

Doc doesn't deserve to be fired, but it might not hurt to do some rearranging of other coaches. Maybe a new Oline coach, a qb coach wouldn't hurt. We wouldn't be able to find anyone better than Doc and honestly he has done good here. No he hasn't been perfect, but you end up pulling a Nebraska, (and now a Georgia) if you get rid of Doc. Best thing we as fans can do is continue to support our team, which includes Doc.

after viewing 3 quarters of last week's game I left, I expect to see much of the same thing the rest of the year... Secondary is young, if things don't come together quickly I could see missing a bowl this year! I am hopeful, still think a miracle is possible this Saturday!

No we won't miss a bowl, but in order for us to be successful Heater will have to dial up the pressure to take heat off the cb. May also have to go away from man coverage or give them more help. Four man rush didn't get it done.

Doc has put himself in a precarious position by dismissing so many players. Let it play out.

Don't be naive and ignorant though...

Doc has beaten Maryland and Louisville, both on the road. Some bad losses, but it happens.

We are very young, our expectations were a year or two early.

No we won't miss a bowl.

Assuming that 6-6 = bowl, which is a safe assumption, then this team needs to find 5 wins. That means we cannot drop a game we should win (North Texas, FAU, UNCC, and FIU) and then we need one more win. This team is not capable of winning the next two weeks, nor of beating USM, MTSU, or WKU. That means the bowl important game is at ODU on November 5 and then not blow it at FIU, which is very possible considering.

If I read it all right, the Bahamas is not a CUSA bowl this year, so that means the baseball stadium in Miami or St. Pete, whichever.

Such little confidence off 1 bad game. Amazing, I feel some fans like yourself bask in having low expectations.
