On taxes, as with health, leading Republicans have been lying for years. And now the fraud has caught up with the fraudsters.

But this turns out to be a much bigger deal than they seemed to realize. (As with health care, they appear to have no idea what they’re doing.) According to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, their plan would give huge tax cuts to the top 1 percent, who would receive 79.7 percent of the benefits. But eliminating deductions would make many Americans, especially in the upper reaches of the middle class, directly worse off: Almost 60 percent of households between the 80th and 90th percentiles of the income distribution would face tax increases.

And this would happen even though the plan would add several trillion dollars to the deficit. Did I mention that many of those facing tax hikes vote Republican?

NO I DONT - BUT THE TOP 5% SHOULD BE TAXED TO HELL AND BACK BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES WHO
CONSUME ALL THE SERVICES.
Are you just bitter that you have a sore jaw and do not receive desirable tips?

I'll never understand the mentality of going through life being jealous of how much money somebody has, and wanting the govt to take more of their money to make them feel better. Guess what if the govt took all of the money wealthy people have it wouldn't improve your life at all. Worry about yourself and quit worrying about how much money somebody else has.

It's not about how much money wealthy people make. I'll concede, as I have before that it's not fair. BUT, if you don't raise taxes on the wealthy, we WILL end up a 3rd world country with all the wealth in the hands of a few and everyone else poor. We're well on our way to that as of now.

What do you think is a fair percentage? They already pay 20% of all taxes collected. The 1% pay close to 40%

GOOD QUESTION. CONSERVATIVES ARE ALWAYS ADVOCATING FOR THE 1950'S
WHEN EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT IN AMERICA. SO TO PICK A YEAR LETS GO
BACK TO THE TAX RATES IN 1955 WHEN WE PROSPEROUS AND ALL CONSERVATIVES
(IF YOU COULD FIND ONE) WERE IN A STATE OF JOY.

1955 Top Federal Tax Rates
top rate on regular income: 91%
top rate on capital gains: 25%
top rate on corporate tax: 52%

SO RUSH LIMBAUGH WHO MAKES THIRTY MILLION A YEAR FOR DOING NOTHING
MORE THAN TELLING LIE AFTER LIE FOR 3 HRS. WOULD HAVE 2.7 MILLION AFTER
TAXES. I THINK HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SQUEEZE BY ON THAT. AND WE COULD USE
THE 27.3 MILLION TO REBUILD SOME BRIDGES OR PAY FOR THE MILITARY THAT PROTECTS HIS FAT LYING ASS.
OR PAY DOWN THE DEBT THAT HE IS SO CONCERNED ABOUT(WHEN DEMS HOLD
THE PURSE STRINGS) AND WANT HELP HARD WORKING MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS
WITH CHEAPER TUITION FOR THE KIDS COLLEGE AND BETTER SCHOOLS .

Who advocates for the 1950's?? Is that why Dems 2 top candidates this last election 70 & 80 yrs old??

This is one of the most flawed economic premises that can ever be ignorantly repeated. Higher Govt/taxation has very little to do with distributing consolidated wealth from the top. If Greed's assertion were accurate, the wealth gap would be narrowed across the countries of Europe

True "Free Market" capitalism creates exactly the opposite of 3rd world countries. Greed continues to demonstrate why his business wasn't able to thrive.

It's BS that only few people have money and the rest of us are poor. I make a very good living. I have a nice house and 2 nice cars. All of my friends are in the same boat. We may not be billionaires but we do quite well. Oh and FYI some of them are Democrats and some are Republicans. The propaganda about wealthy people in this country literally sounds like the Lenin Russian Revolution. Those darn rich people are ruining your life be a communist.

There are phenomenal opportunities all over the place in this country. There are even fantastic jobs that are entry level 70 to 100K, but the problem is you have to major in something that's "hard". Finance, Economics, Technology. Those are three majors that you can walk out of college and into a very good job.

Taxing the crap out of people who are wealthy will not bring a single poor person out of poverty. All I will do is make wealthy people less money.

Amirite DTARD?

holy shit, the mentality of these losers is astonishing. "i ain't worth a shit and have no money, so the rich need to subsidize my deadbeat ass and help me out." fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you, get off your ass and provide for yourself.

Malarkey. No one is begrudging the rich for having tons of money. It's a fact our government has to have money to operate and you can't do it off the back of the poor. They don't have it. I strongly support raising taxes on the wealthy in order to persuade them to spend their money instead of being taxed on it. Win-win.

So you want a 91

The top 1% pay about 40% of tax receipts the top 50% pay 90% of taxes. How much more do you think the top half should pay?

And exactly how would them spending their money keep them from paying taxes on it?

clothing/crap required for their business is deductible.
No shit but that's now how extra phrased it. He just said spend money lower taxes. Which is trickle down economics and we all know how extra feels about that

No, extra didn't phrase it that way. Most of us understand that in order to receive tax benefits from spending their money it has to be for deductible expenses. And no, it's not trickle down economics.

Actually YES. SPENDING is ultimately a key part of trickle down.

Currently, the richest 1% hold about 38% of all privately held wealth in the United States. while the bottom 90% held 73% of all debt. According to The New York Times, the richest 1 percent in the United States now own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent.

IF THE TOP 10% IS PAYING 40% OF THE TAX - IT APPEARS THEY ARE ONLY PAYING ABOUT 1/2 OFWHAT THE SHOULD PAY.
SO ANOTHER TAX CUT FOR THEM IS OUT OF THE QUESTION

I'm going to start a moped/scooter riding gang called "The Elite Working Class." The goal, once you patch in by beating up enough of the poor and underprivileged, is to earn your "9%er" patch. "1%er" is reserved for club officers.

So as an "accountant" you should be able to explain how taxing the rich more equates to narrowing the wealth gap??

Yes I would love to hear the super rich CPA/ex division I football player explain that as well.
Taking money away from wealthy people accomplishes one thing, it gives the wealthy less money. It doesn't lift up a single poor person out of poverty. Honestly though Raleigh I don't really think those on the left care about making the poor richer, I think taxing the rich is a revenge game. I think as long as the wealthy have less money they don't really care what happens to the poor. But yeah we took away wealth from that rich guy.

These guys are full of it. Greed wants deductions. Yet, when a rich guy or corporations uses them they bitch about it.

No, moron. I want them to use their deductions by spending, rather than giving them another stinking tax cut.

YOU GUYS ARE SO BRAINWASHED ITS PATHETIC.

YOU JUST TAKE THIS B.S. REPUBLICANS DISH OUT WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT.
CONSIDER THIS:

REPUBLICANS CUT TAXES ON THE RICH, THE RESULTS ARE HUGE DEFICITS, THEN, THEY SAY BECAUSE OF THE HUGE DEFICITS WE HAVE CREATED BY CUTTING TAXES ON THE SUPER RICH WE HAVE TO CUT /TAKE MONEY FROM THE MIDDLE CLASS SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, MEDICAID, MONEY FOR COLLEGES (INCREASED TUITION COSTS FOR YOUR KIDS), ROADS AND BRIDGES, THINGS THAT BENEFIT YOU. THEY DID THIS UNDER REAGAN. THEY DID IT UNDER BUSH, NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO DO IT AGAIN UNDER TRUMP. YOU GUYS NEVER CATCH ON TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO YOU.

YOU GUYS ARE LIKE PUTTY IN THEIR HANDS.

Again, another fraudulent economic premise by Dherd and blindly supported by Greed.

College tuition prices controlled by tax rates? The rich keeping their money is taking from the poor???

There is so much absurdity by you its unmeasurable.

Even your chart is laughable as a means for honest discussion and analysis.

Pffft. How much of a deduction do you think one gets from buying clothing?? Lol
pffft, i was merely answering the question posed above. designer suits, suits, and accessories aren't cheap. hell, i do okay and money for clothing of that nature isn't in my budget.

oh, and "clothing and crap" isn't the only usable deductible expenditure.

i read his response as: upping tax rates for the wealth would, in effect, cause them to spend money, you know, for deductions which would lower their tax burden. hell, any effective business manager is going to take a look at the books prior to year end and buy deductible items depending on where their bottom line is. i worked for a company 20 years ago and one of the managing partners of the CPA firm bought a new $90K porche at the end of the year to avoid paying taxes on that money. legit business expense? argumentative. did it happen? yep.

i get where greed is coming from and have mixed thoughts about it. does what he's saying make sense? yes, to me, anyhow. i'd be more apt to spend money from my business at say a 35 plus percent tax rate than i would be at say a 15% tax rate. can you imagine the tax relief businesses (specifically c-corps) would get if the rate went from 35% to 15%? there'd be a fvcking pile of mom and pop shops and small businesses incorporating across america. what do you want to pay, self employment tax plus regular income tax on profits, which amount to 25 to 35 plus percent for sole props, LLCs, partnerships, and scorps, or a 15% flat tax on the bottom line? i'll take the latter, please.

If you give some one a tax cut, do they have to spend money to get it? No.
If you increase their taxes they would spend money on deductible items to avoid paying taxes on the income and they would have something to show for their money spent.

i think greed's as big a dick, prick, asshole, mothertrucker, whatever, as the next poster on this site. but, at this point, you're starting to act like he typically does . . . arguing just to argue. he's in the right on his thinking with this one, believe it or not. do i necessarily agree with him that taxes should be raised? hell, i don't know, how the hell else we going to pay off this massive debt? sure as hell not by lowering taxes.
