was interested in your thoughts on rockheads touches. Dont quote me on this but i think he ran the ball 8-10 times that game which kind of stunned me. A great win non the less but if we had lost i think alot have people would have circled that stat. Of course the defense is gearing toward himbut if you was the coach with a qb new to the system do you play ohio like we played perdue meaning pass to open up the run even if that means rock only getting ten touches or do you run the ball regardless. I would like to see us utilize him *even* more in the passing game on catching out the backfield with a couple screens to keep them honest but im no coach. whats your thoughts

Had 13 touches. 11 rushes 2 catches. They did a decent job of keeping him I consistent, but once we went away from that stretch zone and got him downhill he was fine. Never had a chance to develop a rhythm, and still averaged over 8 YPC. He needs 22-25 touchesa game in my opinion between rushes and receptions .

A lot of teams do that intentionally the first 2-3 weeks with their feature back to get them eased into the season. Part of that number came from the read though where Birdsong would keep it. I liked one instance where he handed off next time he kept it then the next time did a short pass all from the same play 3 consecutive times and got a 1st on each one.

As much as they were concentrating on Johnson and could actually do something about it unlike other teams, I would say that had a whole lot to do with his limited running plays. Remi did ok while he was in there as well. Get rid of the turnovers and he likely would have gotten more touches though, just saying its possible that had something to do with it. He will get his numbers, it just wasn't going to happen last sunday.

Herd fans complaining about Johnson touches are like OSU fans complaining about Zeke touches. Both defenses were built to stop that run game. I look for Johnson to have much more impact (not success as it is hard to say what he did wasn't successful except for putting ball on the ground) this week.

He averaged over 8 YPC. It's not like they were shutting him down.
