Nick Smith has been put on scholarship. The kicker from Alder High School tweeted a photo of himself signing an athletic grant-in-aid document yesterday afternoon. When D.J. Hunter replied 'Scholarship?', Smith tweeted 'haha Yes Sir!'.
Smith will be a redshirt sophomore in 2015. He redshirted in 2013 and appeared in 3 games in 2014. He did all 9 kickoffs for the Herd in the Boca Raton Bowl, averaging 62.8 yards with 2 touchbacks. He had 3 kickoffs in the C-USA Championship game, averaging 57 yards. He made his only extra point attempt of the year after Marshall's final touchdown against Florida International.
