Oh Bamas schedule was a tough one.....

Don’t know which was better bama beating a 5-6 Mercer and co state ( which Marshall beat) or ten big champ Ohio States loss to 8-5 Iowa that finished 3rd in big ten and won there bowl game and there loss to #2 ranked OK....

I think loss to good teams should be better then a win over Mercer......

PS Clemson had a badddddd night and Georgia has zero defense...

Bama wins championship.

I'm sorry but this is what college sports is all about. This is not the NFL. The conferences/divisions in pro sports are designed to be equal, and are equal over time. College conferences are not that way. The best want to test themselves against the best, and you do that in the Southeastern Conference. The SEC is just a better collection of teams than the other P5 leagues, and certainly better than any G5er. It just is.

Which is why trying to come up with yet another new system of yet more bloated playoffs just cannot work. Which is why p***ing and moaning by UCF and OSU and whoever, this year, or by the Big 2 Little 8 or the Pac 12 or Boise State or whatever in previous years, or by, yes it will happen some day, the undefeated CUSA champion in some future year, or a left out P5 league is pointless and silly.

The best players mostly choose to see if they really are among their generation's elite, and you do that in the Greatest Conference In The History Of The World, the SEC. No matter how you stack up the playoffs, no matter how many rounds you have, no matter who you include, the champion is going to come from the SEC.

It just means more.

Alabama just looks big and mean; but GA does have some speed. Will be interesting; I'll pick Alabama by two scores., 10 to 14 points.

Actually not at all. I only rooted for georgia to beat oklahoma. A herd fan talking about a team playing no one? Lolololol.

I get to really enjoy these games. I dont have a team in it. I am a bigger fan of the game of football than any single team.

Auburn beat both teams that are in the championship though and then lost to that ucf team so I think people have a right to wonder what might have happened if ucf was given a chance. Big 10 has 5 teams in the top 25 won all but one bowl game. Imo i think osu deserved a shot also and an expanded playoff is the only way those teams get a chance. Actually ucf still wouldnt have had a chance because they weren't even given a top 10 rank being undefeated. I almost feel like bama getting in after not being in a conference championship helped them as well. That is an extra week of recovery and prep for them plus they didnt have to take the risk of getting anyone injured. The playoffs in current format have taken away from college football because it doesnt honestly give anyone more of a chance. Fans know that the same elite mentality will always reward the sec over everyone. This year two sec teams will play for the NC but in many opinions osu should have been in that 4th spot which would have changed everything. The only way to know is to open the playoff to at least 8 teams. It would give a bit more meaning to a few more bowl games and it would allow a few more teams to sneak into the conversation. College basketball got it right and i think they will eventually get it right with football but it wll take time to figure out i guess.

Sooo your saying since people/coaches/sports writer and heavily paid NCAA administration personnel all have a say so in who gets in to the playoffs makes it the right choices and as fair as it absolutely can be.... just because you play in the sec doesn’t mean your good..... and if you play a team like a 5-6 Mercer should automatically disqualify you from a national title shot.... not saying you don’t get a good bowl game but not a chance at National title.... sorry the way I see it... I think the two loss OSU should have had the chance before a weak padded schedule Alabama....

Ohio State should schedule Charlotte, UTEP, and Georgia southern all next year go undefeated and go into playoffs number one seed.... works for the sec.

Before last night's games, believe SEC was about 2-6 in bowl games. And 1 of the wins came against that phony program at Meechegann under the most overrated coach in FBS, the self absorbed, under achieving John Hairball!! SEC top to bottom a pretty weak league after 2-3 teams, and it showed in overall bowl results. Feasting on perennial weak sisters like Vandy, sUcK, etc., and then loading up the non conference slate with the likes of Mercer is, as someone noted, the sure ticket to the playoffs!!

Actually, name brand gets you in above all else. ohio state had that over 2 teams in TCU and Baylor to get into the CFP. Alabama has it as well and can use it to manipulate the system. However, beyond maybe 10 teams of true "elite" status, nobody else can do that.
Also, Clemson vs. Bama Part III was what would sell tickets. I don't have a dog in the fight and I even watched that whole miserable game.

ucf should have gotten in had the CFP been expanded to 8 teams because I think that is where they will finish when the dust settles, and its about where they should.
No way they get in with 6 spots because ohio state and Penn State would have been far superior.

Sam, you mentioned Bama playing Mercer, what about UCF playing Austin Peay, or originally having Maine on their schedule? Granted, yes, the hurricane did disrupt their chance to play Goergia Tech, who could have beaten them, however, if an FCS opponent disqualifies you from contention if you're Bama, what does scheudling TWO FCS schools do for someone like UCF? Honestly, I would rather have just cancelled the re-scheduled game if I couldn't find an FBS opponent.

Simple........... 16 team playoff. Make all the top bowls first rounders so they can get there TV time... then after that get back to College football play it out and the winner would more then likely be the actual best team in college...

More games and more money for the networks they should love this idea..!

Plus give a team a real shot at National championship and takes a lot of argument out of it.

I better start emailing the Committee and going to public events screaming this idea so they will hear my words and I can make a real impact on college football....

You’re confused.
Calm down and be truthful. You love seeing what you believed that the sec was no longer the top leauge. You liked kidding me.Confused because I rooted for a mid major against an sec power. I live in ky and these fans here can turn you against the sec by all the bragging. At the same time when I hear some posts about the sec that are basically completrly wrong I have to speak out. Its all fun for me becaise Im not emotionally connected at all to bama, georgia, oklahoma or clemson. I AM A BIGGER FAN OF THE GAME OF FOITBALL THAN ANY PARTICULAR TEAM. Let me say this, nothing in my 57 yrs was as great as a front row seat for Marshall going from 20 losing seasons to winning more games than anybody in the country in the 90's and winning two national championships.I loved going to fairfield stadium. Little things like the walk from the big bear to fairfield. We even took advantage of the often criticised porta johns by smoking the chronic in those things. Covered up the smell. My crew didnt drink. We eat schrooms and smoked the chronic and obtained what everybody else by drinking beer. Well we felt far better in my opinion. Carl fodor to leftwich was a great run. My favorite qb was michael peyton.

This doesn't make you a Herd fan. What makes you a Herd fan is hating any college system that doesn't lift the Herd up, hating WVU more than you like Marshall, and trolling people that you don't necessarily agree with hoping that you can try to catch them in some fib that was taken out of context and then act like you're a sleuth for being an internet troll. That is what a few of the idiots on here want this board to be about.

Hating every school that doesnt lift marshall up. Your are dumber than a box of hammers. You are why herd fans are not packing the joan. Im always there you idiot. Pullman finger u not been around long have you?
