IMO, this type of action by the govt is yet another dangerous slippery slope and extreme overreach of power.
The irony. Civil liberties are important.... until it comes to turning over freedoms & sovereignty to others in the name of "saving the planet".
My guess is we need a consensus of economists and branded marketing message by the govt to tell us taking money and personal assets from individuals is needed to fight man made climate changes to get some of you back on board (on either side of this specific debate).

I agree it is legal bribery, but in the same way someone with money being able to post bond to get out of jail while the poor person stays locked up.
The issue we always had was the person would immediately go back to Detroit/Columbus/Akron and go into hiding or do something more serious or catch a federal charge so the county would drop the charge because the person was already gonna get locked up somewhere else. But it always did feel like a police shakedown to me.
As far as I've seen, it hasn't really changed the legal charges brought but is used more for bond purposes. Most Defendants view it is easier to just forfeit the money for the reduction instead of jumping through all the hoops to get it back then using the money to pay their bond to get out.
I have seen hundreds, if not thousands, of drug addicts go through the most intensive drug treatment programs available, including the BOP's RDAP. You know how many succeed? No exaggeration, less than 10%. Rehab only works if you want it to. Unfortunately, most do not.
Maybe the should try Scientology. It worked for our resident cabinet maker. All it took was some supplements time in the sauna and auditing

And I don't think out-patient treatment works for initial treatment, either.
One thing good about Obamacare was causing more coverage for mental health care. I am convinced (and as you know) prisons are warehouses for addiction and other mental issues. But we need dramatically more in-patient beds.

I have never claimed the Purification Rundown as a way to rehabilitate drug addiction, you liar. I have claimed and know for a fact that it's possible for it to remove toxins from the body.
its seriously called the purification rundown?!?! And it is the basis of narcanon and other Scientology drug programs. So yes it aids in drug rehab. No one has ever said it was drug rehab
