Well, Herd boards ought to be "troll free" for a few hours or so following the end of the Liberty Bowl, so enjoy it while you can Herd fans. If you have been on any of the EER boards, or Metro News' site, you would notice that the "inbred nation" is in full meltdown, looking for any and every one to blame for Coach "Hungoveragain's" latest faux pas, screw up, etc. I believe it is starting to dawn on the majority of their fan base, with their average 70 or lower IQs, that the gold and blue are destined to a future of being "after thoughts" or "also rans" in the Big 12, after being drubbed by SEC West bottom feeder, Texas A & M. Should be like a breath of fresh air around these parts for a while, so enjoy it Kelly Green fans!

I don't enjoy WVU losses - I enjoy Marshall wins. In fact, I root for our fellow WV teams when not playing the Herd. I think A&M has more to be ashamed of (student coach's 2 cheap shots on WVU players) than the mountaineers. I agree that WVU needs to reconsider its choice as head football coach.

WVU on the other hand, exemplified class in this one....

The tradition continues........

I know it's been very quiet on here after the loss to a bottom feeder in the SEC. But one thing is sure if it's quiet on here it must be busy at Walmart!!

I'll never understand the propensity of Marshall fans to put down the rest of the state like Huntington or our fan base is in Ohio or Kentucky or something.

I AGREE 100% with Dale Blevens' comment. I pull for the STATE of WEST VIRGINIA......even if it's Fairmont State, Concord....you get my point. I would NEVER cheer for wvu when they play M*A*R*S*H*A*L*L*

"Can we just get along?" Either your are the SOLUTION...or you are a part of the PROBLEM..............YOUR choice to make. You can be HAPPY---or you can be stupid SAD.

You would think so, but, at the end of the day, when the cold douche of reality bursts yet another year's delusion, "But Marshall ..." is all the comeback that the non-alumni Spamites have. No rivals. Geographically illogical conference in which they cannot compete. Idiot coach. And, really, for all the puffery about the school and the program, just another college in a state with too many colleges and just another program at the middle to bottom of the P5, nothing special. Metro News' website is all you need to read to get it. Do you believe anybody there has ever even been anywhere within 50 miles of the 'hole on a non-Saturday. But the same comments on every MU story. Sad little people. Life's losers, frustrated and having nothing more to say than "But Marshall..."

Sad to say, the Spamite's delusion has moved on to basketball. They were actually chanting "national champs" last Saturday. Not only would, if it came to that, Big Blue wax them by 50, so would any of 40 other teams, including half of their own conference. But, "But Marshall...." will be the comeback, as always.

Sad little people? Like the same ones that bring up the death of individuals every chance they get to pump their school? Enjoy falling further and further behind. The State will be sure to take its chunk of flesh from the MooU budget this Winter as well.

Posted DURING a WVU TV basketball game.

Sad, obsessed people, who as their delusions are again burst have nothing to say but "But Marshall..."

Watch your mighty team play, loser. We don't matter, remember?

On the day Clemson fans cheer for South Carolina, Florida State fans cheer for Florida and Auburn fans cheer for Alabama, That's the day I will cheer for wvu. For the life of me I see no reason we should feel obligated to cheer for them just because we are from the same state????

Well said, Herdmeister - that's part of what makes sports, especially college sports, fun. Besides, hating & ragging on wvu doesn't mean I hate & rag on the rest of the state - just M'hole.

Go Herd or Go Home!

falling further behind?

7-6
4-8
7-6

and without James Madison, William & Mary, Georgia State, and Towson you likely end up with 4 less wins...

meanwhile...

10-4
13-1
???

For the record and this is by first eye account of wvu fans at the game. Kevin White was flipping the bird to wvu fans.

Let us look at the long picture.

Let us start in 1984. WVU was playing in a 3 year old (100% taxpayer funded) stadium. The interstates (toward Morgantown, the main part of WV still waited) were finished and people could actually get to the games. It finally beat Penn State (the worst PSU team in decades). It won the Bluebonnet Bowl over a solid TCU team. It was selling 90% of its seats. It was on (in an era where being on TV was an event) on TV 4 times. The world looked bright. Marshall had its first winning season, 6-5 (one of the 6 being WV Tech) in the memory of traditional aged students. MU was playing in a rotting stadium in the worst neighborhood in WV. One that would be half condemned (having already been condemned in the 60s) and 1/3rd torn down by the next season. The usual suspects were calling for the program to be abolished far more loudly than they had been 13 years earlier. No one cared. We were selling (in a world where most people did not know what ESPN was and sports fans went to live sports) about 12K actual paid seats. The Charleston newspapers reported the scores in the agate type, and we gave the radio rights away and could not get on in Beckley, Bluefield, or Lewisburg. Jay Rockefeller, who with his racist buddy Gordon Gee had come within 3 votes of his goal of shutting down the MU medical school, was buying his way to the Senate. The university had come within a week of shutting down due to lack of funds (saved not by the state, but by heroes like Buck Harrless, who guaranteed the payroll out of his own pocket.)

And? MU got a new stadium. MU rose from ashes to glory. Moving from having a winning season being an event to being a solid contender to being the best program by far in Division I-AA. To moving up to and dominating the MAC, and then moving up to CUSA. Forcing WVU to play us (some) and even being strong enough to survive an awful AD and coach combo. Two national championships, Nine bowl wins. Medical school will never close, formed the basis for dozens of new research graduate programs, including nationally regarded PhD programs. School has grown by over 8K students. Rockefeller retires rather than face certain defeat. Nationally ranked. Continual improvement. Pharmacy. Engineering. PT. Biotech.

And, WVU. Well, first came the first realignment as Penn State moved up. Then the second as VPI, Miami, and such move up. Then the "Great Realignment". Rejected by everybody, foolishly moves to a Texas - Oklahoma conference where it cannot compete. Losing millions of dollars per year. Owes its own foundation more than 15 years' worth of its current claimed profit (accounting tricks, actually does not make a profit). Giving tickets away and still drawing less than in 1984. A succession of idiotic presidents, including a political hack that gave away fake diplomas; to Gee, having been made a laughing stock, slinking back to the only school that would take his discredited, prejudiced, racist a**. Law school placed on academic probation. Med school placed on the warning list. Owes feds millions to pay back for a fake professor's grant. Ran off Fat Donnie, only to be told by DickRod that "this is not a major program". Finally the (soon to be former AD) admitted what we all knew "The Big East was not major college football". Six bowl wins in 30 years. Seas of empty seats.

And? And who knows what the next 30 years will bring? Or the next 10. But the petty jealousy of the non-alumni, left with nothing to say but "But Marshall..." as their bubble is burst, again.

Some of the most vocal and single minded WVU fans I know HAVE NEVER GONE TO SCHOOL THERE. I don't know why they are so pro WVU and against MU ???

Yep.

WVU alumni (which are really rather rare in most of WV, particularly south of US 50) are generally reasonable people. Pro-WVU? Of course, but realistic about the program (mid-major until a few years ago, over-it-head today) and the school (OK, but not the equal about any "named for the state" state college in any state, and, truth be told, barely Marshall's equal, and probably a step below due to all the fake political degrees and on-line phony classes). And pretty much embarrassed of the non-alumni Spamtards and of the idiocy that has spewed out by Crapridi and Vingleberry and the like. Really would be happy if the school actually accomplished something, but would settle for not having this continual idiocy (self-supporting, going to win the national championship, Rutgers = Alabama, Drunkerson (DickRod, Fat Donnie, etc) are super geniuses, Johnny Two-star is really the next Heisman winner and picked WVU over fill in the blank with actual major programs, blah, blah, blah. Most have no animosity towards MU.

Then you have the non-alumni Spamtards. These people are so stupid they ACTUALLY BELIEVE the garbage that they are told. And, when it all goes south, and it ALWAYS does, then "But Marshall ..." is all they have. They have, it must be noted, no more relationship with WVU than they have with WV State or Tech (same words as on their driver's license, nothing more) but have this HATE of Marshall. And, with no actual rivals left, and years of losing ahead, it is only going to get worse. You pretty much have to be pretty dumb to ACTUALLY BELIEVE the stuff these people ACTUALLY BELIEVE, and when someone, generally us, roll our eyes at fantastically incredible silliness, there you go. And to that, particularly in southern WV, the people these people interact with that actually did go to college, mostly went to Marshall, after all, so there is the common petty jealousy of people that goes with all of that.

I'm not a WVU fan at all, but with Elijha Wellman playing for them now, I do watch them to see h play. He's a great kid from a great family and he wants Marshall to do well even though he went North. He has very good friends on the Herd team. We need to pull for our local kids

WVU is never going to have a chance in hell in that conference with the current coach. Luck screwed them good on that one.

To be honest, I believe he did the best for them that he could in getting them into the Big-12, otherwise they would just be one of the best programs in the mediocre AAC. WVU was never going to be excepted in the ACC or Big-10 due to academics, and the SEC had already made their moves with TX A&M and Missouri, so the Big-12 was their only hope. If Luck didn't have the "Good ole Boy" connections in Texas that he had, then WVU would be in the exact same situation as us where a great season only results in an access bowl spot.
