HUNTINGTON — In the latter stages of his great Marshall career, quarterback Rakeem Cato cultivated great chemistry with his receivers in particular and the entire offense as a whole.
The results are well documented, from all that passing yardage to the 35-18 record over four years.
Now, it’s Michael Birdsong’s turn to bond with his receivers, linemen and the coaches. Cultivating the chemistry in the summer was a point of emphasis for the former James Madison thrower, who seized the starting role in the spring.
As the Thundering Herd began its preseason camp Friday, Birdsong showed some of the fruits of his summertime labor. It’s very early, yes, but coaches saw a difference...
