Slavery is chaining people up and physically forcing them into this deal. Nobody is forced into anything here.
I don't like this idea of being some helpless worker begging for a wage. You need work done. You've got money. You tell me what you're willing to pay me for that work. If I like the amount, I'll do it. If not, I won't.
It's as simple as that. I'm not begging. I'd go live out of the garbage before I'd accept being some helpless pitied thing with people feeling sorry for me so they have to pay me X amount.
You are an exception to the many sheep in society walden.
You have to realize you are speaking to a person who has chosen to work in the non profit world. Most of those employees don't even realize that even their industry must operate under some level of low profitability to survive. It's also funny that they moan about businesses "dodging taxes" and being greedy, while at the same time depending on their business model to do the very same thing in order to make their payroll.
Most people who throw around the "slave" banter essentially view themselves as such. It's just easier to offer that as an excuse for their perceived worldly shortfalls and support politicians that promise them guaranteed prosperity vs doing something that changes their existence.
