Sigh. The money was the entire budget of the Pentagon over the period of the audit. The idea that it is "lost" is ludicrous. It was spent, it was accounted for, it just wasn't accounted for to the degree the auditor wanted. I agree there is waste at the Pentagon, but we didn't just lose $8.5 trillion, use some common sense.
i knew an army sergeant who ran a recreational skeet range for the army in hawaii for 10 years.
he was hit and killed on I-95. in the trunk of his car the state patrol found $800,000 cash.
from guns he stole and sold from the shooting range.
thats one sergeant at one skeet range over the years.
my dad years ago could go out to fort bragg and bring back ANYTHING he wanted.
in our business at the end of the fiscal year units from ft. bragg came in. they had to spend all the money
they had left in their budget. they bought tons of stuff they did not need and didnt really care what we charged
they had to spend the money so they would not get cut the next year.
thats little sgts at one base at on small business. THINK ABOUT THE BIG DEFENSE CONTRACTORS WHO
HIRE THE GENERALS DOING THE PURCHASING WHEN THEY RETIRE.
OR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS FORCING THE MILITARY TO BUY THINGS THEY DO NOT WANT.
and you honestly do not think any of that money was lost and stolen.
