That was a great speech. Trump

I didn't watch it. Too busy with the weather we had coming in. The climate has gone all weird this year. Flowering trees are already blooming here and we had a February tornado outbreak (those are strange words to type in this neck of the woods). If this is climate change I am moving into a fvcking missile silo.

I didn't watch it either. They had some show on about an old idiot who got conned into letting some woman he met on the computer come and live with him. She drugged him up and tried to steal all his money, but he lived.

Just think, even Trump's gonna keep the welfare state going. It's all a big waste. Everybody's still going to get everything. Smart kids in school are already dropping out at age 10 to work on their fake disability. That's what I would have done back then if I knew the truth.

Presidents will solicit funds for a reelection campaign

Is Obummer running for reelection anytime soon?

That's why he has to make comments like "nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated." He is so out of his league that he doesn't even know what he doesn't know.

So what is your excuse for dems that passed a healthcare bill that effected 1/5 of the economy without understanding it? "We need to pass this bill to see what is in it." --Nancy Pelosi (speaker of the house) prior to ACA passage. I'll also give Obama the benefit of the doubt, that he was completely ignorant as to the healthcare economics and systemic effects of his "legacy" law when he promised "you can keep your plan....you can keep your doctor....it will lower the premiums..etc. etc.".

Don't get me started on healthcare. I've written about this endlessly before and after ACA's passage. I know healthcare executives that cant answer questions regarding the ACA effectively. The ACA took a complex, multi-faceted industry, and dumped a whole new load of cost increasing bureaucracy on top of it.

It sounds like you knew it was complicated. How come Trump - a man who repeatedly makes comments about how smart he is - couldn't reach that conclusion on his own or with the help of the millions of dollars people donated to his campaign (which he turned around and paid himself with) to put "smart" people around him to tell him this stuff.?

It doesn't concern you that you were well aware of it being complicated, but a guy who ran for (and won) the presidency was clueless about it? Thanks for proving my point. The guy is incompetent for the position.

Actually what I've proven is that it doesn't matter who the politician is (left, right, lib, con) they usually over simplify a "fix" to any policy initiative during the election cycle stump speeches. Even I was pragmatic enough to understand not to criticize Obama's initial promotion of ACA during his first campaign until the framework came out after he was elected. (Interestingly he NEVER gave specifics even after being elected).

I'll hold that same standard with Trump and the Repubs now in charge. It's taken over 8 years for Obummacare to infect the healthcare system with additional confusion and failure...it was never going to be corrected within 30 days of a new president taking office. When the actual policy or legislation for change is released, then maybe we can have a real conversation about good, bad, competent, incompetent.

What's really funny with the criticism of Trump on this topic (or any topic) is/was the mantra pre election that his arrogance wouldn't allow him to listen to others and/or adjust his decisions or opinions. Well....pooof...this is proof that he listening, is considering his options, is changing his mind on a whole host of issues. Those of us that actually watched and listened to the speech actually heard shifts in attitude and outlines in policy that differed from the campaign trail. Frankly, it's what I always expected.

As usual. Liberals try it both ways. "He's ignorant and won't listen or change." Only to later suggest "He's ignorant because he listened and changed."

The die was cast nearly 100 years ago when Health Insurance was developed as a "for profit product".

Single Payer is the only answer and I don't see that ever happening in the US.....For a lot of reasons.

Single Payer most certainly isn't the only answer.

Don't forget when it became an employee benefit and drew employers into it.

In regards to the speech......Read well from the prompter, stayed mostly on message, only a few lies, and plenty of positive ideas.......But, as my coach at Marshall used to say, "Talk is cheap".

In regards to his other actions Tuesday......Trump proved that he is a cowardly piece of $hit by signing the Gun Bill passed by Congress.

It has everything to do with the media, and what they decide to hyper bold. Case in point: A Tribe Called Quest (who's artistry I actually respect and enjoy) kept referring to Trump during their Grammy performance as "Agent Orange" Not a peep from the mainstream media... Can you imagine if a country artist or southern rock band had referred to Obama as "President Khaki", We would still be hearing about it 3 weeks later..

Yes, because mocking a guy who purposely changes the color of his skin is the same as mocking a guy who is born with that skin color.

So, Obama's skin color is considered "Khaki?"

^^^^This is the kind of over simplification that I am talking about.^^^^^
For a whole lot of reasons, you ignore why "single payer" would NOT be an effective way for delivering care when formulating your opinion.

The gun rule the ACLU wanted repealed?

I never said it "would NOT be an effective way for delivering care".......I said it's not happening in the US.

Big difference in the US regarding what people think they want versus what they really want in regards to health care for all.

Without comprehensive reforms at all levels of health care, you can never have true single payer. Too many issues are bundled under the cover of health care.

Sorry.....I didn't know that this forum was the place for a dissertation on Single Payer and/or Universal Health Care. I've worked in and around the Health Care and Health Insurance Industry for 30+ years. I have plenty of ideas and opinions. ACA was a classic case of sounds like a great idea......But horrible planning and implementation. Basically the same plan the Republicans are embarking on now.

You most certainly insinuated that single payer was the "only answer"

My reply was basically suggesting "it's not". It's one of the most ineffective ways at delivering consistent care and one of the most effective ways for govt to expand inefficiency.

You want real cost reduction "reform" and price reduction in healthcare? Start killing off the baby boomers at a massive clip. Sadly, That's the only thing that will do it.

Yep!!!! You think the ACLU is always right?

in this case, they were absolutely correct. the measure needs re-written with much more clarity. you can not "blanket ban" constitutional rights without due process.

No more than Trump's is consider Orange.

That was a jab at rifle. You used a non-racist example of what people could make fun of with Obama and rifle commented that people would be talking about the color of his skin if they said that.

Ah no worries, lost is translation on my end. :)
