The best non power 5 conference is

FSU did play without their starting QB and for most of the first half basically played a walk on at QB, sorry that makes a big difference. Without the starting QB FSU is not top 20 team let alone top 10.

You mean this "walk -on" who played some in the first half ... J.J. Cosentino .....who was a top 15 in country / 4 star QB in 2014.

Fsu was losing 7-0 before McGuire ever left the ball game

Nobody told Houston they had no chance. The AAC might not have had the best post season but they were the best G5 conference this regular season and their champion took down easily the ACC champion. DShoe was right.

Clemson was the ACC champion dumb ass....... FSU lost 2 conference games finishing behind UNC and tied with Pitt.................but i guess using 'eer math FSU was undefeated........

i miss the smack board

Yep, not why my old brain thought of them as the ACC champs. Regardless, it's funny watching herd fans try to talk down the AAC. WKU might have competed in the AAC but beyond that, nobody else.

If that is true then it is also safe to say wvu would have finished 5th or 6th.

ACC champion?o_O

Coogs at the Joan including Holgy and Keenum......0 wins - 2 losses. Texas teams like o fer 13 and counting. Sagarin says 3 pts for home field.....I would say 7 or more for the Herd at the Joan.

If you look at the G5 conferences here is an interesting take.
Schools with 9 or more wins this season.
MAC- 2
MWC- 2
Sun Belt- 3
AAC- 4
C-USA- 4

Bowl records this season

MAC- 3-4
MWC- 4-4 * 2 teams from MWC played each other
Sun Belt- 2-2
AAC- 2-6
C-USA- 3-2

Looks to me like nobody dominated anything this season. So let this put to rest how bad C-USA is once and for all. It is a solid G-5 conference.

If I'm reading this right, you're saying Marshall would beat Houston by a touchdown this year.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say that?

How the college football world and any rating system actually views CUSA:

-below the AAC and MWC
-above the Sun Belt
-slightly above/on par with the MAC
Nobody cares what you think. Now go away. For the record here is how people around the USA view wvwho in football- (Vanderbillt, Kansas, WVU, Wake Forest,Duke, Iowa State, Indiana and Purdue) The P5 and the scrub 8!

The ACC champion didn't get beat and they definitely didn't get beat by Houston.. Clemson won the ACC and rolled Oklahoma last night.

Houston saved the AAC a lot of face.. But to say that no one in our league would have competed in the AAC beyond WKU is a joke.. UConn won 4 conference games including knocking off Houston was competitive in a couple other league games (lost 28-20 to USF and 28-19 to Navy).. CUSA had at least 5 teams better than UConn.. I think it's safe to we had teams beyond WKU that would have been competitive in that league

Regardless, you are every bit the stoned air head you were on TITM. You show you are a dumb ass and in the same paragraph try to pretend Herdies are in your idiot boat. Go make yourself useful. Take you dumpster fire someplace else.

CUSA has a very strong Top 5 it's the bottom 8 that hurts the league

Revise your list. Duke did or would beat every team listed you this year.

Stoned is more ridiculous than TITM. Must be the smoke ring around his head. Stoned and proud of it.

You have a weird view of smack. And no I don't profess to be up on Duke football. 3 years does not a strong history make.[/QUOT3

Just kidding around.

Duke was known as a football school from the 30's thru the 70's even though basketball was very good and went to three FF in the 60's. The powers that be made the decision that football success couldn't be sustained w/o a huge commitment so the program was allowed to fall into bad shape with a few good seasons here and there. 30 years of neglect left Duke at the bottom of the barrel but with the hiring of Cutcliffe and a large influx of booster money things have turned around. Marshall and Duke both sustained near death blows to their football programs with Duke's being self inflicted and Marshall's of course from the crash. I'm proud to be a fan and booster of both schools.

Houston was the better team, period. And Houston did help the AAC save some face in the Bowl Season, although no way to alibi their dismal performances. AAC Bowl contracts are very good, but the downside of that is that your Best teams play solid to good P5 opponents and your middle to lower tier Bowl eligible teams play very good G5 opponents, making it difficult to come out of Bowl "Month" with a good overall record. None the less, on the full body of work, this past season taught us a number of things:

AAC was the best overall G-5

Houston was VERY Good and likely the best of the G-5 this year.

Once again (as MU proved last year, Houston this), no matter how good you are, it is very hard to go undefeated, no matter your league or schedule.

Toledo was VERY Good

CUSA teams WKU and Marshall and probably La Tech could play most days with the rest of the top G5 programs...... and Ga Southern and App State are legit FBS programs.

The Best of the G-5's were MORE than competitive with the middle and lower P-5 conferences including SEC and Big Ten

As long as we have the 85 rule, College Football is very competitive.

I still feel CUSA dropped the ball not bringing in GA Southern and Appy State to the east side instead of Charlotte who would be a middle of the road FCS team if not worse and ODU whosee ceiling is probably 7 wins

you really know your conference is shite when you "dropped the ball" by NOT bringing in Georgia Southern and Appy State.........

Wow, you mean you are supposed to wait until an entire season, including the bowls are played to figure out which conference is this or that, for that year? And also to look over a much longer period of time to judge conference quality as a normalized trend over an era?

Not just get all puffy because a team destined for a mediocre season and a a**whipping by 6-6 Auburn upset a very mediocre Mississippi State team ONCE on a random Saturday in mid October?

Wish I had said that.

List of notable CUSA wins from this season?

Here is a list for you (wins over "power 5" teams with winning records in bold : )

Tennessee (in OT) , Akron, Tulsa, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Maryland, Arizona State, South Dakota, UTSA, LA Tech, Central Michigan, Central Arkansas, UTSA again, Rice, Minnesota, Steven F. Austin State, SMU, Oregon, SMU again, Lamar, Rice again, North Carolina, Northern Iowa, Sam Houston State, UTEP, Arkansas.

That is the COMPLETE "acomplishment" of the entire Big 2, Little 8 for the year. A whopping FOUR wins over "power 5" teams with winning records.

The Big 2, Little 8 formula. Fatten up on I-AAs and bottom feeders, have random results among yourselves, and then, after another (100 in a row and counting) dissapointing season, actually (with all the history of cupcake schedules) actually want to talk about Marshall and CUSA.

Hate all the Marshall you can hate. "But Marshall ..." is all the fixated Spamite has at the end of the day.
