The Death of Golf

We now live in an instant gratification society. We can google things and find out information quickly, even remotely with smart phones. We can order an item form Amazon and it shows up tomorrow. We can text people. We can email. We don't write letters and use snail mail much anymore.

That is the biggest problem. Plus, there are so many more things to do. Video games, NetFlix, multiple sports options, and sports that require all year participation. How is a kid that is serious about baseball going to have time to play golf with his dad now? How is the dad going to have time to play golf now?

Dual role parenthood. No more golf leagues as you have to watch the kids on Tuesday evening. No more golf on Saturday because you are helping out around the house. We work longer hours and are always on the go.

Golf can be expensive but not so much more than anything else if you plan it right. Golf however takes time.

Golf might be like baseball is becoming. A sport for those who have time and some money. The poor kids and those with less money are getting away from it because of the time involved and the cost of travel ball.

Golf is contracting and will become smaller and less accessible. It won't die,but will be similar to what it used to be. Fewer courses, more country clubs, and higher cost for those courses that make it.
