From what is stated Huff has one year left on his contract. Whether he refused extension or not I don’t know but we are in a pickle. We have three options at the end of this year.
1. Fire him
2. Extend him
3. Go into his last year with zero years left
If we fire him, that seems most reasonable.
If we extend him we face backlash from boosters and fans. This also means if he has another bad year his buyout will be bigger if we fire him later.
If we go into next year without the extension, recruiting will likely suffer. I don’t see us doing that realistically.
IMO unless we make a run starting this week, Spears only option is to fire him. It sounds like Huff gambled thinking he would have a great year and earn a bigger extension but this may have backfired.
