Why was the starting QB job just handed to Litton in spring ball. Birdsong could have helped this team. Senior leadership and experience.

Birdsong was a mediocre D1 qb. Litton, good or bad, is the best option we have. Imho, hes played pretty well considering hes staring right at an opposing teams d lineman every single snap. The skill positions are not where this team is lacking. The trenches are where its getting its ass handed to it - on both sides of the ball.

Outsider looking in....it isn't your QB. I've watched bits and pieces of games this year and last, so I admit I'm not 100% in the "know" of every second of every game. However, from what I see your QB looks to be solid. I think this year you don't have that stud WR nor do you have that "fire" on your coaching staff that you have had in the past.

Again, I'm not around your program, but is there any chance that Doc and his staff is distracted by potential of jobs out there? This MU team has more talent than Charlotte, no doubt. I watched the 2nd half after the WVU game was over, and can say that I didn't see much of an effort from some of your guys. They don't seem very motivated....and that falls on coaching. You have a proud program and a quality product and as fans you deserve to be given more than what was on the field yesterday.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Good assessment Mountaineer. Appears your coach has managed to secure his job with team performing well.

Yes he has. And that's kind of my point. After a dismal 4-8 season, I was quick to jump on the bandwagon to fire him. But, he has learned and recruited better and made changes on his staff that have now shown his progress as a head coach. Perhaps Doc is the same?

Funny how when you guys are having a successful season, you guys are all on this board. If you were 1-5 or having a bad season, everyone hides.

Because birdsong is not a Florida kid
This team lacks leadership. A group of older mature kids to take control. Doc may be getting wore down from the lack of maturity and it shows in his lack of excitement. I don't think Doc is getting a job so he needs to stop being distracted and concentrate on fixing his team issues.

When has Doc ever looked "excited" on the sidelines? I've always thought his look was more like "a deer in the headlights".

I couldn't agree with you more. I railed about some of your same points after last weeks FAU game and was called an "entitled fan". Two of my main concerns are the lack of effort/motivation and leadership/disciplined play. I think Doc as done a very nice job rebuilding this program, but I'm beginning to wonder if he is losing the locker room? One stat that is usually a pretty good barometer is penalties. Marshall is the 4th most penalized team in FBS football, with an average of 8.8 per game, and yesterdays 12 for 115 yards was just par for the course. Which means they are either tuning Doc and the staff out, caught up in their own brand of "me play" vs "we play" or there could be internal dissension within the ranks that is not getting addressed and resolved due in part to leadership.

a very good post!

I do not understand the negativity. Mountaineer was being very nice and I thought spot on with his assessment.

I do not believe in disrespecting the other D-1 school in MY great state of West Virginia. True, I'm a WVU fan. However, if WVU and MU are both good, then the state wins. I meant no disrespect and I do have respect for your program and athletics.

Im just like you mountaineer only im for the herd when wv and the herd meet. Since after the norfolk st game I hav been pleading for another player to get a shot at qb. Last year I was screaming for litton to get benched. Well dumbass has it where we have no backups that can play.
