His offered was pulled so he won't be.Can't blame him for wanting to play with his brother
Whoops, didn't know that. Sucks but I guess he has other reasons then. His offered was pulled so he won't be.
I'm not sure if lower value players are turning you down, but sometimes, kids just want to 'go away' for college. Top players out of Kalamazoo turn down WMU to go to P5 programs all the time.do we have a low success rate with SV players or what? i'd love to see a tally of scholly turn downs by SV players, scholly busts by SV players, and walk ons from SV that did or didn't work out.

I believe he wants to be starter his final year and it doesn't look like he would have that option with us.Whoops, didn't know that. Sucks but I guess he has other reasons then.
I don't have any information on the guys that were just walk-ons, but we have had 4 scholarship players from Spring Valley in the Doc Era. Of those 4, 3 were scholarship recruits and one was originally a transfer walk-on. Two are on the roster (Brown/Porter), while two transferred or are transferring (Cassidy/Locklear). The real issue is that the last few years has seen Spring Valley turn out some good FBS level recruits that were MU fans growing up, but decided to go elsewhere. I know some of those schools were P5s, but the rumor is that the SV coaching staff recommended they go elsewhere. It is just hearsay, but it seems to fit.I get it, I guess I'm more interested in how many joined the team as scholly or walk on, and then what happened. I'm thinking back 20 years like Nate Howard and Baisden and several others up to present time

If the statement re: the SV coaching staff is true, then as a HERD Fan, I hope that they keep getting butt reamed by M'Burg in the HS playoffs!!!
Agreed, its simple population demographics and WV lack there of.I’m not knocking any local or in state recruits, but I do believe that part of the problem is that the ones we end up with are a big fish in a small pond. They don’t play against elite competition and dominate the lesser competition, then get to Marshall and the competition they now face is too much. Granted there are a few guys out there that can play anywhere....but a few in the ENTIRE state. Hell, my youngest son’s schedule this upcoming season has 2 QB’s with SEC offers, a DT that’s already committed to Clemson, a RB with offers all over, other kids with several D1 offers...we just don’t have that overall talent here for the kids to compete against.
