I don’t know anything about guns - you’re saying those are US military guns (basically we intended to equip the Afghan army but now theyre Taliban guns)?

You would think someone would have ordered, destroy, blow up weapons, helicopters, equipment that might be used by the taliban.

Again the British press doing the job the US press won't. This is from over a month ago. I'd venture to say many, of not all, of these arms are in Kabul today...☹

Here is an update from the contractor on the ground in Kabul. Incredibly the US brass is more concerned about COVID protocols than getting people out of Harm's Way... Compare that to our southern border...

"Update for those asking.

Had to do a small but of fighting but nothing too crazy. The entire sanitization and draw down was actually pretty smooth... until the end... when the army took over. Originally we were allowed 1 checked bag and 1 carry on backpack. Well, the spoiled state department employees took too much shit and took too much time/too many trips and our thanks for doing a superb job was to not be allowed any luggage except for a small backpack. And now, when we get to the military base for download, we have to get a covid test before we can come back stateside. With a 72 hour turn around.

I had enough snacks/food in my packed bag. No food for a couple days now I think."

Can’t imagine the BDE on a dude who calls it “a small bit of fighting but nothing too crazy.”

Thankful these kinds of dudes exist. I’ll just be over here typing online.

meanwhile an illegal can come across our border and be in North Dakota.

Anyone else see the sad irony that our current administration seems to trust the Taliban more with "assault" weapons than law-abiding Americans???

"The taliban doesn't act like ISIS or boko haram. They aren't going door to door, they are acting like 'freedom fighters' and trying to portray that they are on the side of the people. That's why cities fall so easily (like kandahar)"

That's all you need to know.

For now...

and the cities fell because the Afghans started giving up when Biden gave a date and didn't hold Taliban to standards that had to be met. He went against advice.

They have no command and control. No maintenance capaibility. The moron let them have the runways that we needed and may still need.

They were so f''ing wrong. He said the Taliban can't take it. They did in two days. He is a ****ing moron.

Interestingly today I spoke to someone whose nephew is an Army Ranger that was sent to Afghanistan to secure our assets for removal but got recalled back to the States a few weeks ago. The reason given was Biden went against the military advice and briefings and made the announcement at a press conference.

Sounds about right...☹

Nah. Freedom is being a good Muslim.

I get there are people who helped the Americans, and they should be terrified. Same with the ones that want to act like a Westerner. You have to have wealth and power to do that. I'm sure the Taliban leadership is watching porn and smoking hash.

we had controlled it or kept it check with less troops than are being sent right now. We had 2500 there and it was more in check.

i can provide no comment. But, that sounds about right. There is no way anybody in the military would have advised giving up that runway or airports. I will just leave it at that.

But, there might be a reason suddenly we had to send an entire damn bridge combat team from the 82nd had to be called out suddenly. Biden is a complete ****ing moron.

You want to keep 2500 there forever? Why not 25000?
Did I say forever. Jesus Christ, my son is an infantry paratrooper. What the hell do you think? But, this is a cluster **** and it may cost us bigger later with someone else down the road. Again, nobody is saying we keep things there forever, but how this was executed cannot be defended.

Said they had to leave things we had no business leaving...☹

Why do we have troops stationed all over the world???
Sometimes I ask that myself.

He's a good young man. Buy him a beer for me. Sincerely.

What's it matter if it falls in a week or a year? From a national security standpoint. I get it will suck for some people we should have gotten out. We fvcked the Kurds twice, no surprise we are fvcking some people today.

Can we just agree to keep our nose out of certain business? Blow shit up if needed, sure. But this civilization experiment shit doesn't work.

Time will tell. To be honest, I didn't worry as much about Afghanistan. Now, I do.

Definitely an old M-16 in one pic, and an M-4 carbine with a CCO.

The second pic shows an M4 with what looks like an ELCAN. The 1st and 4th pics show 3 M4s, one with an ACOG. The rest are AK variants.

They are going door to door looking for terps and KKA. One terp had his ID card burned into his skin, arms chopped off and hung.

Yep. Taliban just being Taliban...😡

Thanks for the perspective.

The quote shows what Taliban represents for the majority of average Afghanis: religion they approve of, a way of life they approve of, and an alternative to the Western infidels and their corrupt government they see as put in place by us. This aided their quick and easy push to take the country, and in turn the lack of fighting bolstered that image. None of this make Taliban good people, nor does it mean they will not kill those who helped the infidels; they absolutely do suck.

How long Taliban can maintain such an image and relationship remains to be seen.
