Sam, your envy over anything placed higher than Marshall continues to paint you as the board moron.
When Boise falls to earth? They've been able to keep up that "act" for 16 seasons with three different coaches. After that long, it isn't an act, but a realistic portrayal of their program. All top programs stumble; look at Florida, Alabama, Texas, michigan, and Ohio State over the same 16 years. Yet, Boise has gone much longer than those without stumbling. And claiming they are in the middle of nowhere? Those who rave about the state of West Virginia (in defense of marshall) talk about the beauty of the mountains and outdoor appeal. Boise blows away Huntington in those categories. Those who have lived in Boise and left, absolutely hated having to leave it.
UCF's campus is phenomenal. Their master plan has been fulfilled perfectly. The restaurants, shopping, and gyms they have on campus are great. Their dorms, class buildings, and athletic facilities are very, very nice and right in the heart of the campus. The activities they always have for their students and community is great. As a Marshall alum, I would be thrilled if Marshall had just a small fraction of what UCF does as an overall university. If I were a high school athlete being recruited, it would be very hard to turn down UCF. I was there yesterday and amazed at everything they have to offer. Oh, and the erector set joke is tired and inaccurate. As a brand new stadium, they hadn't had the time to complete all of the aesthetics of it when those jokes started. With the added brick on the outside and the ring of lighted palm trees, it is a nice looking stadium.
houston has a brand new stadium, a new coaching staff, in a great recruiting area, in a better conference, in a better city to recruit to, can afford far better salaries, and averaged more fans than Marshall this year. So, tell me again why they shouldn't be ahead of Marshall on the list?
SMU has the potential to be a great job. Their stadium is in the middle of campus in a beautiful and wealthy part of a great city. The campus is beautiful, the alums are wealthy, and they pay well. It is a great recruiting area. They can pay well. Their attendance has been awful. The new coaching blood came in and stole a bunch of recruits from schools they had been losing to recently. That has great potential.
