Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), chairman of the Senate subcommittee, has repeatedly argued that it was a matter of humanity, not simply legal responsibility, citing a case in which federal officials had turned over eight immigrant children to human traffickers.

During a Senate committee hearing late last month, Steven Wagner, an official with the Department of Health and Human Services, testified that the federal agency had lost track of 1,475 children who had crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on their own (that is, unaccompanied by adults) and subsequently were placed with adult sponsors in the United States. As the Associated Press reported, the number was based on a survey of more than 7,000 children:

From October to December 2017, HHS called 7,635 children the agency had placed with sponsors, and found 6,075 of the children were still living with their sponsors, 28 had run away, five had been deported and 52 were living with someone else. The rest were missing, said Steven Wagner, acting assistant secretary at HHS.

You mean the unaccompanied minor children that dhs places with other relatives or places in other homes? Thus releasing dhs of responsibility of said children?

yes the ones he is responsible for.
probably has them doing slave labor in his hotels

or hiring them ourt for a fee
Portman reiterated his stance in an April 24 PBS “Frontline” special called “Trafficked in America,” which documented the plight of the eight children who were forced to work on an egg farm in Ohio.

where are all the evangelicals when we need them? franklin graham / jerry fallwell i'm talking to you. take a few days off your evangelical con game.
mothers and they are describing their kids screaming, ‘Mommy, Mommy, don’t let them take me away!’ … The medical evidence is overwhelming that we may be doing permanent trauma to these kids, and yet the government is finding every way they can to try and justify it.”

Keep trying dTARD. The New York Times even admits they aren’t lost. The figure you cite is he number of people that didn’t respond to the survey. Dumbass

“Officials at the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees refugee resettlement, began making calls last year to determine what had happened to 7,635 children the government had helped place between last October and the end of the year.

From these calls, officials learned that 6,075 children remained with their sponsors. Twenty-eight had run away, five had been removed from the United States and 52 had relocated to live with a nonsponsor. The rest were unaccounted for, giving rise to the 1,475 number. It is possible that some of the adult sponsors simply chose not to respond to the agency.
Losing track of children who arrive at the border alone is not a new phenomenon. A 2016 inspector general report showed that the federal government was able to reach only 84 percent of children it had placed, leaving 4,159 unaccounted for.

1. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE PHRASE IT IS "POSSIBLE" MEANS? - DUMBASS!

2. THERE IS ALWAYS ONE THING YOU CAN COUNT ON: President Trump over the weekend falsely blamed Democrats for a “horrible law” separating immigrant children from their parents. In fact, his own administration had just announced this policy earlier this month.

I thought we all understood that Trump didn't actually "lose" any kids in the thread where we discovered the media stepped on the rake again by reporting a story from 2014 and 2016.

Well, we don't keep track of them either if they had to call to see what happened to them. Best to do that, for our safety.

In all seriousness, I am concerned that the feds do not run this like foster care...which of course is a shit show in many states, but at least they know where the kids are. I would hate to see these kids fall into human trafficking or some other horrors.

So almost 1,500 people ignore calls from the government, and dtard equates that to Trump losing track of children, and taking them away from their parents.

This is why the term "fake news" was created.

Just an FYI...in this exact same scenario in 2016, there were almost 4,200 kids unaccounted for under the Obama Administration. Where was this same outrage dtard?

OMG, Obama lost 4,200 children in his last year alone! Guess he had to keep the Podestas and Comet Pizza supplied.
