I explained why they are cutting jobs it is for automating them. That all sounds great to you as you are not one of those government employees. What will happen when the unemployment increases a lot?. I am not against getting rid of waste and fraud . I only wonder if by getting rid of so many jobs so quickly will cause great consequences to our economy. So you think all government programs are bad. You evidently are well off but not everyone can be. And I will repeat social security in not part of the budget. But has been stolen one and now some call it by a different name, I want to remind you that millions of people depend on it and everyone cannot be rich enough not need it. The recipients of it paid into it. Now they want to take money from people and give to the ultra wealthy in tax breaks and you think that is a good thing. I am not a socialist but I tell you something that makes this country stronger than others . It is our ability to help one another and we have had leaders that know the importance of helping the poor and middle class to have good lives. Other countries all the power and money is at the top and there is no middle class only the very rich and the poor. This power at the top now with you so called King Trump and his policies that benefit the wealthiest only will be a big threat to everyone to have a chance in life. Will people never learn that trickle down economics do not work? Do you think it will be any different this time? In conclusion I say I am for getting rid of the waste and fraud but very careful of putting to many people out of work quickly like that then taking savings you get from it and give to richest people in the form of tax breaks.

I retired now 74 and draw social security that I paid into . Its really not part of the budget but has been stolen from in the past but is still solvent even though the Republicans dont want it to be. I have wealthy daughters so I dont have to worry about money so I dont need my SS . I own stocks too . But for the sake of the poor and middle class I see impending hard times ahead.

So far you do. But let us see how you like it when you perhaps call an agency of government about something and you get a robo call instead. You are unable to get the correct answer from the robo call . So you say let me talk to the represenative and you get the answer I am the represenative . This is because the human person was let go. This is what is going to happen when Musk automates the government agencies. That is just one thing . How will you like to pay higher prices for products because of his tariffs.? How will you like it when we get diseases from those third world countries because they dont get proper healthcare and vaccinations.? How will you like when you cannot get home insurance or it is so high that you cannot afford it due to all the bad climate .?

I’ll give you a great story about our government. About 8 years ago I get a letter from the IRS saying I owe them a couple grand. I had transposed two numbers when I went from page one to page two of the return where you carry your AGI over. I pulled my return and sure enough they were right. So I cut the check, attached the forms and mailed the $2,300 to them.

Well, about 60 days later I get a check from the IRS for $2,300. They said it was a refund of an overpayment. I called them and went through the whole thing with them, case number, the whole thing and they said they would follow up. I never cashed their check and left it in a drawer.

About 4 months later I get a letter from them saying I owe them over $2,700. It’s the $2,300 plus interest and penalties on the money I sent them and they sent back to me.

I call them back and go through the whole thing again and point out that I never cashed the check, which meant they technically had the money the whole time since the check was never drawn on them, which means I couldn’t owe penalties and interest because they had the money since the receipt of my original check.

They were too stupid to understand this. Told me I still had to send them $2,700 and then couldn’t get that they would then have $5,000 of my money. They told me I should just cash the check and then it would work out. I explained that didn’t solve the issue of them charging me $400 on money they had the whole time.

Conclusion - there’s nothing we can do, you can appeal it in tax court, which they knew would cost me more than $400.

I would rather have talked to a robot than the idiots I was forced to deal with.
