I suppose if it’s Heaven the kindest thing to do would be to kill ‘em all. I mean they miss out on a little bit of time on earth but they’d all get an eternity in heaven then, right? Isn’t that better?

I remember in Sunday School someone asked the teacher what happened to people who lived places that had never heard of Christianity, and the teacher (whether it’s because it’s an actual belief of theirs or because we were little kids and the answer is horrifying) said if someone had never heard of Jesus that can’t be accountable for not following him and they get to go to Heaven. And I remember thinking “man, wouldn’t the world be a better place if the first few Christians had worked that out and just kept their mouths shut? Everyone would get to go!”

And that’s kind of when it all started to really not make sense to me anymore.

I understand that and had similar questions when I was younger, kind of like how did Santa Claus got to every house in my town, much less the entire world.

However as I became an adult I had a Road to Damascus type experience that thankfully changed my outlook and my life. We all have a decision to make and different ways, timing and reasons to make that. I am not an evangelist by any stretch of the imagination but try to live by faith and am trying to leave my little corner of the world better than I found it.

The Golden Rule is the basic tenet of how a Christian should live. If one does live by this and encourages those around him or her to do the same isn't that a life well lived? And if the Gospel is indeed true and there is a reward at the end of our lives, isn't it all the better?
