Notice how ESPN is not really covering the UCF story. Its goes against the grain of cutting the playoff down to 64 for teams(and 4 conferences). No one is really discussing this story but its a huge blow to the elite programs and ESPN that want to continue cutting down the number of teams competing for a NC.It's a good move just for the sports talk it will generate will be more exposure value for the school than the cost of the bonuses.
What is your basis for this? A quick Google news search shows that ESPN amongst many other major outlets returns way more than a few articles on the story. A quick Twitter search shows many ESPN personalities amongst other network personalities discussing it. UCF was a topic on PTI on Tuesday, Paul Finebaum talked about them on his show Wednesday, it was topic on Around the Horn Tuesday in which 3 of the 4 analyst said UCF should have made the playoffs, it’s been discussed on SportsCenter, Scott Frost is going to be a part of ESPN’s pregame coverage/shows for the National Championship on Monday, etc. Trust me, I can’t stand ESPN but posting postulates like this is absurd.Notice how ESPN is not really covering the UCF story. How so?How does Alabama have the 6th or 7th ranked SOS. They played a totally weak schedule this year.
UCF has no claim just because they went undefeated. They say that they beat Auburn who beat GA and Bama yet they dont mention their strength of schedule is #54 while the two teams playing on Monday night (for the REAL National Title) have SOS of #6 and #7. Nice gesture but similar to a participation trophy in the end.
