Marshall will welcome a total of 17 visitors this weekend as it returns home to take on Old Dominion. There will be 11 2016 visitors and six 2107 visitors including two 2016 commits and one 2017 commit. All players will be on unofficial visits.

2016 visitors:

Quinton Baker

Baker is a 5-foot-9, 196-pound running back from Paul Blazer High School in nearby Ashland, Kentucky. Baker is currently the highest rated commit in the 2016 class thus far. The three-star is ranked as the 17th overall all-purpose back in his class and is ranked as the 5th best player in the state of Kentucky.

Baker picked Marshall over offers from Kentucky, Ohio, Middle Tennessee State and others. Baker plans to be an early enrollee at Marshall. He committed to the Herd in June.

Mike Furrey and Chris Barclay headed Baker’s recruitment for the Herd. He ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at the “Best of the Midwest” combine in Indianapolis earlier this year. He also has a 39-inch vertical.

Baker took an official visit earlier in the season for Marshall’s 41-31 victory over Purdue.

HIGHLIGHTS


Paul Blincoe III

Blincoe is a 6-foot-1, 280-pound offensive and defensive lineman from Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky. According to his Rivals profile he currently doesn’t have any offers. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

His profile lists him as running a 5.77 40-yard dash and possessing a 25-inch vertical.

Male High School is the school of walk-ons running back Ellis Cain and cornerback Deiondre Coleman who joined the program in 2015.

HIGHLIGHTS


Ryan Gatrell

Gatrell is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker from Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia. He is unranked by Rivals and doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

Gatrell holds an offer from James Madison and is receiving interest from Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Louisville, Yale among others along with Marshall.

His Rivals profile lists him running a 4.7 40-yard dash, 315-pound bench press and a 485-pound squat.

HIGHLIGHTS


Damien Jones

Jones is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete from St. Mary Ryken High School in Leonardtown, Maryland. Jones is ranked as a two-star and holds an offer from Marshall. His Rivals profile lists Old Dominion as a school showing interest in Jones.

His Hudl account lists him running a 4.5 40-yard dash.

HIGHLIGHTS


Terrence Lambert

Lambert is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back from Nansemond River High School in Suffolk, Virginia. He is currently unranked by Rivals and his profile shows no offers or interests. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his profile he runs a 4.6 40-yard dash and has a 29-inch vertical.

HIGHLIGHTS


Nathan Metheny

Metheny is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound safety from University High School in Morganton, West Virginia. Metheny doesn’t have a Rivals profile. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his Hudl account Metheny has a 4.6 40-yard dash, 32.5-inch vertical, 255-pound bench press and a 350-pound squat.

HIGHLIGHTS


Cody Mitchell


Mitchell is a 6-foot-3, 228-pound athlete from Point Pleasant High School (West Virginia). Marshall is recruiting Mitchell as a linebacker, but he could also be a tight end down the road. Mitchell committed to Marshall in June.

Marshall is the only offer for the two-star so far, but Northwestern, West Virginia, Indiana and Wake Forest showed interest. Barclay is his lead recruiter. Mitchell took his official visit to Marshall for the Herd’s 41-31 victory over Purdue.

Mitchell is rated as the 4th best player in West Virginia. He runs a 4.73 40-yard dash, his max bench press is 370 pounds and his max squat is 600 pounds.

Taylor Naff

Naff is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive end from Auburn High School in Riner, Virginia. He currently doesn’t have a Rivals profile. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his Hudl account Naff has a 4.89 40-yard dash, 34-inch vertical, 335-pound bench press and a 475-pound squat.

Nick Pearson

Pearson is a 5-foot-9, 165-pound cornerback from Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. Pearson doesn’t have a Rivals profile. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his Hudl account Pearson has a 4.41 40-yard dash, 34-inch vertical, 225-pound bench press and a 315-pound squat.

HIGHLIGHTS


Evan Staley

Staley is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound kicker and punter from Hampshire High School in Romney, West Virginia. Staley doesn’t have a Rivals profile. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

In watching his highlights Staley can kick it to the goal line from the high school kickoff length of the 40-yard line (own team’s 40-yard). In his junior year, according to Hudl, he was 31-of-36 on extra points and 4-of-5 on field goals.

Staley hit a 54-yard field goal in his game last Friday which broke his own school record.

HIGHLIGHTS


Chris Stoy

Stoy is a 6-foot-3, 260-pound offensive lineman from Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Stoy doesn’t have a Rivals profile. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

His Hudl doesn’t list a 40-time, bench press, etc.

Caleb Etheridge

Etheridge is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound offensive guard from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. He currently doesn’t have a Rivals profile and doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his Hudl account he bench presses 310 pounds.

HIGHLIGHTS


Dorian Etheridge

Etheridge is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound outside linebacker from Capital High School in Charleston, West Virginia. He is currently ranked a three-star in the 2017 cycle and the third overall player in the state of West Virginia.

According to his Rivals profile Etheridge holds offers from Marshall, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Charlotte.

He took an unofficial visit to Marshall earlier this season for the Herd’s victory over Purdue.

HIGHLIGHTS


Rayquan Horton

Horton is a 6-foot-1, 265-pound defensive tackle from Belfry High School in Belfry, Kentucky. He currently doesn’t hold an offer from Marshall and his Rivals profile indicates he doesn’t hold any offers as of yet. He is not yet ranked by Rivals.

As a sophomore Horton had 120 tackles, 17 sacks and 43 tackles for loss. With that type of production he won’t remain unranked long if he can sustain that level of production as a junior.

HIGHLIGHTS


Alexander Houchins

Houchins is a 5-foot-6, 160-pound running back from Briggs High School in Columbus, Ohio. Houchins doesn’t have a Rivals profile and doesn’t currently hold an offer from Marshall.

According to his Hudl account he bench presses 215 pounds.

Derek Pitts

Pitts is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety from South Charleston High School in Charleston, West Virginia. Pitts is ranked as a 4-star prospect, the number one player overall in West Virginia in 2017, the 17th overall safety and the 226th overall player in the class. He is certainly one of the highest rated players to come from the Mountain State.

Pitts holds offers numerous offers including Marshall, Clemson, Nebraska, Louisville, Auburn, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt among others.

Pitts took an unofficial visit for Marshall’s opener against Purdue.

HIGHLIGHTS


Seth Stewart

Stewart is a 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle from Point Pleasant High School (West Virginia). He was the first member of Marshall’s 2017 class. He committed in early June before his teammate Mitchell.

Marshall is the only reported offer for Stewart. Rivals ranks Stewart as a two-star and the 4th overall player in West Virginia for the 2017 class.

Stewart, as a junior in high school, has a 365-pound max bench press and a 550-pound max squat to go with his size. He took an unofficial visit to Marshall for the Purdue game.
