Just out, the MAC has scrapped plans to play football in the Spring of 2021 and will instead start a six game conference season around November 4th. For the first 3 weeks, its Tues-Weds. games only, to the delight of ESPN and those 30 or 40 hardy souls with nothing else to do on those cold, frigid week nights in places like Ypsilanti, Michigan! League will switch to Saturday games only on the Thanksgiving week-end and play the League championship game on Dec. 18th.

With no out of conference games this season, guess Doc has to wait a while before he can give Frank Solich another coaching lesson! ;)

The question is... If you are only going to play six games, is it even worth doing?

Do all the teams that finish 3-3 or better get bowl slots?... Now that everyone is playing and a couple bowl games have been cancelled there won't be a need to have filler teams that are sub-.500.

Yet another reason we need to win CUSA, so we can choose our bowl destination/opponent. It would so very CUSA to pair, lats say, 9-1 Marshall in a bowl game against a 6-win MAC "Champion."

There are NO bowl qualifications this year. EVERY team in America is eligible this year. Considering we have only an 8 game schedule we could be 9-0 and play a losing record MAC champion

But with all leagues now playing, some schools will be left home that have much better records than a B10 team that is 3-5 or so. Jmo.

agreed. This just opens more spots for P5 teams. I assume that the small ESPN bowls (the ones CUSA goes to) however, will still need to honor their contracts with the G5 teams

Although no set number of wins to bowl eligible, the bowls still have contracts with the conferences to fill, and most bowls will be filled with the deserving conference teams. It’s not like C-USA will send a 1-2 win team to the New Orleans Bowl over a 7-8 win team.

The Outback Bowl isn’t going to take Vandy over Auburn.....

Unlike other conferences, the lowly MAC will allow it normal crowd size. All 350 MAC watchers have been informed they can attend these games.

The MAC's masters at ESPN need some filler programming until after new years when it can return to all-NBA, all-the-time.

Gawd, I'd rather watch anything than the whiney asses from the NBA.

I am thinking that the NCAA should reconsider their decision to allow all football players another year of eligibility, since it was based on the fact that so many teams would not be playing in the fall/winter. Now that all conferences are going to play, it seems unnecessary to allow the extra year. Rosters, recruiting, budgets, and overall program planning are seriously affected by that decision. I hope they rethink this new rule.

I, for one, hope that the NCAA leadership won't change their minds.

I agree with you. This can cost schools a ton of money and it isn't necessary
