Its a smart move for any junior that wants to play professionally (whether in the US, Europe, Asia, wherever) to test the draft waters, go to the clinics, get the scouting and some tips on how to improve going into their senior year.
West's best asset is he is an elite on-ball perimeter defender... What the value of that skill is in the professional ranks I do not know... Just as a guy who watches games, his biggest weakness appears to be that he isn't a great creator for a small guard. He is a good spot-up shooter, but he needs to continue to work on his handle/vision when he gets into the lane to open up more opportunities for himself and his bigs when defensive help comes.
