What is income equality?

I see this in all of the Democrat platforms when talking about income.

What is it? How do you get income equality. It sounds great to the do nothing Uncle Sam will provide for me my whole life crowd. But it's never been explained ever. Oh you hear politicians like dopey sanders say things like income equality or a morally correct system etc but never does anyone say how they will do it.

Can one of our resident leftists explain what income equality is and how it's achieved especially how does the government achieve it.

I am not a leftist, but to me it means huge corporations paying enough to their employees to prosper and lead a good American middle class life. Some do, some don't.

In a 100 years it won't matter anyway, technology will lead us to guaranteed income because there will not be enough jobs. Unless we kill off about 75% of the human population, which I am fine with.

It's not going to be 100 years, it has already been happening. The GDP continues to expand, albeit at dismal levels, despite a continuing decline in workforce participation rates. We have no shortage of anything despite less people working to provide those goods and services. This trend will accelerate and either cause a war, a revolution, or an 80% corporate tax bracket.

When life evolved into battling to "keep up with the jones' ", and the drive to spend frivolously on cheap worthless shit with debt; instead of saving and investing for ones future or simply refusing to buy "quality instead of quantity" when actually needed.....just happens to be when the cries of "not enough income" began.

No one that I know of is trying to achieve income equality. You know someone who is? Some of us are intelligent enough to realize that when the inequality gap gets too big, it's bad for the nation. Without a thriving middle class, the market for products (demand) diminishes. You want to know why the economy hasn't improved as quickly as after other recessions? Just look at household consumption per year results.....not enough demand.

Raise the minimum wage

People keep pointing to the late 50s as some mythical utopia based on the largest minimum wage increase in history and large increases in Union labor....one major problem.....

By the early 60s poverty rates began to skyrocket, the "have nots" began to cry, unemployment began to rise and the govt's "war on poverty" began. There are consequences for govt price fixing any type of market. In this case, the labor market. It squeezes out the lower end worker and gradually eliminates the less skilled worker opportunities.

Combine this with the modern day zealotry of environmentalism and self destructive EPA policy and the result is game, set, match in favor of govt dependency and the massive elimination of blue collar manufacturing base that built the country.

Funny thing....during the GWB years Libs were on here complaining that the historically low unemployment numbers (4.7-4.8%) of that time were doctored to make Bush look good.
