What is Wrong with you People?

Relax this will die in committee. No important session time was/will be spent on this proposal.
I'm a Christian and have prayed for you more than once but even I know this is a non starter.

It doesn't matter if it goes through or not. It is the principle of it. I shouldn't have to explain why this is an anti-American piece of legislation.

And though I believe your "prayed for you" sentiments are with good intention, please save it. You are far too bright to believe how you do simply based on the region of the world where you grew up. If you were born in numerous other areas of the world, you would be just as fervent with your beliefs for many other religions. That, in itself, should give you major red flags with your beliefs . . . and that doesn't even touch upon the scientific, common sense, and contradicting evidence against all of the major religions out there.

All good here, I'm rock solid in my faith. Also I find most of your posts to be thought provoking but for a young man you seem angry and unhappy. I really hope I'm wrong, sincerely.

Well YAGS I typed a nice response but it disappeared. Maybe the Lord just told me not to post. ;-)

Or maybe it is a fair representation of the intelligence level of a believer.

Nobody questioned your level of faith. That's the point. Your faith was entirely selected based on where you were raised. As sold as you are in your faith, you would be just as solid in faith for many other religions based on where you were raised. Does that not show you something huge?

Not really.

So do you agree that your beliefs are largely due to you being raised in a liberal part of the country?

If you don't believe that a person's religion is due to a large degree by where they are raised and live, you're not being honest.

I never said it wasn't. I'm simply applying the same logic to rifle's belief system...and waiting for his 5 paragraph long spin of a response.

Who's this rifle you speak of? Rifle was banned, so that can't be him. Just like banker can't be here. Rules are rules.

Not only is your logic flawed, but your research is also inaccurate.

First, I wasn't raised in a liberal part of the country. The county I was raised has almost twice as many registered Republicans as Democrats. The next closest county has about 33% more registered Republicans than Democrats. Another neighboring county has Republicans registered 2.5 more than Democrats. Another neighboring county has just over twice as many registered Republicans than Democrats. A final neighboring county - one that is considered very liberal due to its inclusion of many colleges, including an Ivy - is about 1000 more registered Republicans than Democrats. So, your research is flawed. Now, for your logic . . .

Regardless of where you are raised in this country, atheists are severely a minority. So, being raised even in the most liberal of areas wouldn't lead me to being atheist. I would still have a strong likelihood to be a theist, namely, a Christian. Would I have a better likelihood to be atheist if I had been raised in Vermont than Mississippi? Yes, but still being such a minority in Vermont, I would have a much higher chance of being a theist.

So, back to the drawing board on two accounts for you. I suggest just acknowledging what common sense and overwhelming research proves; where you are raised is an overwhelmingly strong indicator of your religious beliefs.

An atheist, a vegan , and a Cross Fitter walk into a bar. I know this because they told everyone within 2 minutes....
