Looks like Twitter just shut down Info Wars. Now before you start I am not a fan of Alex Jones. All I can say is just be careful what you wish for on this stuff. I am glad we have free speech, I don't even mind seeing DHERD paper the board with 5 posts every day. You see I am an adult I can think for myself. I am not afraid of other views. So my advice to you defenders of denying free speech is put on your big boy shoulder pads and get off the porch

They have every right to give him the ban hammer.
Maybe so, however as long as the guy making the decision is not banning you I guess some would say it's all good. I would suggest that social media as a public utility is a theory which argues that social networking sites (such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Google Search and Twitter, etc.) are essential public services that should be regulated by the government, in a manner similar to the way electrical and phone utilities are typically government- ...I think this is the future of social media in this country.

Maybe I could be convinced a search engine is a utility. After all, one thing a search engine does is serve as a sort of modern, electronic library, or at least the front door to one. Facebook, Twitter, no way. Why should they jeopardize relationships with their customer with speech that may be considered way out of bounds?

I am all for a marketplace of ideas that sort of regulates itself, but in this case the soapbox belongs to someone.

Twitter has the right to deny info wars its services just like the baker has the right to deny the gay couple his services. Both sides have to deal with the fallout from the public. The outrage from both sides on these issues highlights their hypocrisy. The government has no place in this.

You mean like trying to hide Kavanaugh documents from the public and preventing Democrats on the Senate Judicial Committee from discussing them?

I would be completely against this happening. In no way should a social media site be considered a “utility”.

I get your point, I have mixed feelings about this. However, if you can't get your message out on FB or Twitter how else can you in the current environment where they control the medium?

They already said they were a no vote the second he was nominated. They had more documents for Kavanaugh than any Supreme Court nominee in history. They weren’t trying to hide anything those documents were approved for release before Spartacus’ idiotic rant this morning.

Umm, start your own television or radio show?

Oh wait, he lost all of his advertisers, right?

They just released 42,000 pages on Monday night, the night before the proceedings began. And only because of Booker’s threat were additional documents released. And yes, they are attempting to hide his emails about Roe v Wade and his emails about racial profiling.

Facts are stubborn things.

You’re right facts are stubborn and the fact is the democrats have asked for more documents that are unrelated to his judicial philosophy. They asked for his wife’s emails. They asked for documents specifically related to policy discussions within the Bush White House. Those are covered under executive privilege. They are all no votes and have been since the second he was nominated. The fact is this is just political grandstanding for no damn reason. Kavanaugh is nothing but qualified to be on the Supreme court. The problem is that you idiots think he will literally kill women and kids. But please blame the gop for withholding documents even though they have handed over millions of pages from hundreds of thousands of documents

Seriously, why do they even want the documents? Is it in any way going to impact their decision when they vote? Of course not, they're just grandstanding for their next race or for a 2020 presidential run.

Don’t you think the public deserves to know what is in the documents? I mean he is being nominated for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land.

that's laughable Random. Yep, I read yesterday where the staff at Google gave 90% of their donations to the Democrats. I guarantee if you and other libs were being shut out you you wouldn't say that. The fact is this, people use social media forums today and if a business can't have access to them it hurts them. That is undeniable.

1. So are you saying Alex Jones is a conservative? Like a run-of-the-mill conservative?

2. Tough shit. You agree to the TOS or you do not. Don't like it? Start a new social media platform. Or use one of the 100 others besides Facebook and Twitter. Did you know there are other choices? It's not just Coke, Pepsi, or tough shit.

I agree but if they are going to have tos then they need to be applied equally. That’s the issue

Ha ha Raoul just trying to have a discussion. Like i said earlier I am not a fan of Alex Jones. I am focused on the bigger picture. Him today who is next? The problem with your suggestion is that the other forums are not well known. Here is a chart for you to consider.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/272014/global-social-networks-ranked-by-number-of-users/

As you can see Facebook and You tube dominate. Even Twitter is a huge player. Outside of the ones listed I'm not sure which one of the 100's you think are out there that most people are aware of.

Well I am also focused on the bigger picture, which is why should the government be able to tell a business it cannot tell a rule-breaker to get lost.

You know what would make those other platforms more popular? Stuff exactly like this. You know what makes Alex Jones more popular? Stuff exactly like this.

Honestly I am bewildered so-called conservatives are even having this conversation. It is as dumb as Trump demanding action to force the NYT to tell him who wrote that anonymous op-ed.

ThEre are many examples out there just look for them

The burden of proof is on you. And not just "well, this guy got booted and this guy didn't." Facebook has two billion users, surely there is statistical evidence.

Anecdotally, I can tell you I have reported exactly ONE Facebook post ever. Someone posted a photo of a dick in the comments on a local news story. An actual erect penis. Facebook responded to me it did not violate their community standards. Does this mean Facebook allows dick-pics?

I'll bet they wouldn't allow a pic of a vag. That's discrimination.
