Doc says he's expecting a sellout.

Game 1 vs VMI: 23,875
Game 2 vs OHIO: 27,323

Last time UC came to Huntington 29,237

That game was back in 2008 and we were 3-2 going into that game.

no way we sell out. We should hit 30,000 if UC brings a few thousand

I agree. However this ticket office has 10 days to market the heck out of this game. They should be doing everything they can to sell tickets.

Cincy doesn't really have that much cache to have people blowing up the ticket office phones, but they're still a really good team with an above average name recognition.

We should come up with some good package deals.

A little under 30. If you watch the Reds on Fox Sports Ohio, there were ads all summer begging people to buy season tickets, which would have included "name" UCLA and UCF, for a team that was expected to be solid, for prices that would not cover a nice dinner at Outback. That should tell you how many fans it has, let alone those willing to drive three hours, to a part of the country many there look down upon. Parents, girlfriends, and a couple dozen superfans is all they will bring.

We have a team that has looked good, the game is not on real TV (facebook only), two weeks to market, the weather will still be good, 5:00 start means you don't have to devote all day to the venture, and there is really no can't miss "game of the century" on TV (Ohio State @ Nebraska that night is about the best, and this is not much).

I don't think most of the fan base thinks of Cincinnati as a true "step up" game like they did when we played Louisville, or Purdue.

Attendance is down everywhere.

I heard on SIRIUS when UCLA was playing SDSU...granted, its not a ridiculously big marquee name but a CA school nonetheless...UCLA was offering FOUR free tickets to all season ticket holders.
Basically handing out free tickets...for a bounce back game.
They got maybe 33,000 in UCLA's stadium.

UCLA has 30,000+ undergrads...plus a huge surrounding population in a big city.

MU will probably crack the 30,000 mark and could be close to full if they really market this game.

I gotta be honest...given the complaining about the team prior to...I did not think MU would have the crowd they did when MU last went to UC.
UC will probably travel well. Plenty of WV social connections, alumni, and family.

At the end of the day, it's our best home opponent of the season on a predicted picture-perfect Saturday evening... If we got 27k for Ohio and their 700 fans. We should be able to do 5k better for Cincinnati.

Same math always applies: MU maxes out at 28,000 fans. To sell out, you need the opposing team to bring about 10,000 - 12,000 fans to fill in the rest of the stadium. Source: 2007 vs. WVU, 2010 vs. WVU, 2016 vs Louisville

This game isn't going to spin the turnstiles for Marshall, and Cincinnati has little to no traveling fanbase. 28k

How many did Purdue bring? Just curious.

I don’t think we’re gonna come close to selling out but this argument is bogus. You’re telling me this has 10,000-12,000 Purdue fans. http://gigapixel.panoramas.com/marshall/football/20150906/

Bleeds you expect the Marshall athletic department to “market the heck” out of the Cincinnati game! I wish they would. Past history is against you. The athletic department should turn all marketing over to the College of Business marketing students period IMO. Surely they could/would do a better job as long as the athletic department approves. I'll stand corrected then, Purdue was an exception.

Hopefully this Saturday we'll be opening the season at home coming off a conference championship against a Big 10 team we were favored to beat.

…….uhhhh, actually we have to go on the road to face B.Y.E. ….hope we don't get caught in their trap!! ;)

#10 vs #19 is a bigger game. There are also
bigger games (#7 vs. #21) in the afternoon that wouldn’t allow somebody to go to the Marshall game.

How about less attempts at being an expert on every topic and more effort on accuracy?

Im not sure if you’re confused or if that was justooorky written. The free tickets were for the Oklahoma vs. UCLA game. It was announced after the SDSU game.

It was done for two reasons:

1) To reward season ticket holders for staying with the program after another bad start to the season. It was a good-will gesture thanking fans and acknowledging that they expect better. Instead of making excuses, they accepted responsibility. Wouldn’t that be nice to hear out of Shewey after one championship in a decade in an awful conference?

2) Texas A&M took over the stadium when they went to UCLA. Not wanting a repeat, UCLA tried getting more of their fans to come to the game against Oklahoma since an analysis showed pre-sales at about a 50/50 split.

My bad Yags...had some elements mixed up.
If UCLA couldn't generate enough interest for Oklahoma...not sure if anything can save that program at this point.

Oh you can get great discounts at Marshall games! It’s very simple. All you have to do is to randomly go to herdzone, click about four to five links to get to “Promotions”, then between 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM on (fill in day), type in cincykellygreenonceandforall in the space provided. Then you will receive an email where you then type in your BG account #, password, ID, your mother’s maiden name, the city your father was born in and hit “send”. You will then be sent a coupon for $2 off the highest priced ticket if you respond within five minutes. See. Easy! SMH!

Per Herdzone, Stadium Facebook. If you have the Facebook Watch App on your Firestick, it will be there. All 60 inches or so of it.

Yup, Facebook Watch on Fire stick is good to go. I'm also able to cast my phone screen to my big screen and it's not half bad that way, but then I can't use my phone during the game to participate in "Fire Doc" threads

No it doesn't. Herdzone says the following

  • THIS GAME WILL BE STREAMED ON CBS SPORTS FACEBOOK.

Nobody takes anything you say seriously, Samantha. Your posts are so void of any reasonability, so full of inaccuracies, and so blatantly biased, that you have been called out by numerous posters within the last couple of weeks for your absurdities.

Stop trying to paint my constant corrections of your posts as trolling. I'm far from the only one who calls out your asinine posts for their numerous lies, and your purposeful ignoring of that and claims that I am the only one who disagrees with you is your only attempt to save face to new posters whom may not be familiar with your bullshit.

His way of hiding with his tail between his legs is to refer to it as feeding the trolls, so he acts like he doesn't need accountability for himself by not responding to trolls.

My question is, I see people booted for being overly sarcastic or having opinions that the mods might not agree with, yet Sammy is allowed to spew lies and nonsense with no repercussion. I would like that explained to me.

You'll be fine as long as you don't mock one of the moderators after he posts your personal information in a thread in which he promised the next person who posts personal information would be banned. Then, when questioning him about violating his own rule, definitely hope that he doesn't say "That didn't count as posting personal information, because I didn't obtain the personal information that I posted about you from the Rivals sign-up process."

If the moderator makes that bogus claim, it leads to everyone laughing at him, mocking him, and calling him a hypocrite. He then will hold a grudge over you for the next two years, try to recruit other moderators to find reasons to ban you on the super-secret Facebook moderator page, and then repeatedly ban your names out of spite and humiliation.

So if none of those things happen, you shouldn't worry about being banned.

I actually don't care about being banned, my life will be ok. I frankly think it's childish to ban people unless there are extreme circumstances. I think banning people makes the person who did it look like they have a severe inferiority complex.

That being said, since people do get banned for various reason, I would think posting false information and constantly making Marshall fans look bad would be a reason at the top of their list, yet Sam remains free to roam the fields of fools. I just wanted an explanation.

Marshall’s seating capacity was 28,000 from 1991-1994, then 30,000 from 1995-1999, then to the current 38,019 from 2000-2012, then to 38,227 from 2013-present. That will change a few of your above numbers.

I think he based those numbers on the seating capacity when the games were played
