I say burn it, you only get a chance to play a top 3 team at home once in a career as a coach on a G5 level. I'd play who's the best available and would empty the playbook
While it doesn't make sense to burn his RS for one game, Doc had made a lot of decisions over the years to burn rs that didn't make a lot of sense.
I almost think if Morrell struggles, we might as well give gaines a shot - at least he may be able to run the read option offense.

I think emptying the playbook is something we have to do. We would've had to do it with Litton anyway. If we play with the same vanilla offense we always play with, this game is over before we hit the midway point of the second quarter. Our defense has to rest, so I hope we can chew some clock. Also, heck yeah you burn his RS. Kid can run and pass. If our starter is struggling we have no choice.
The best way to beat a spread option team is with a spread option offense. Plus I bet Louisville didn't prepare for a running QB for this week.
First thing is Im not anti-coach holiday. However he could have grown a set and put gaines into the fire running a spread, run offense. Doc says hes the best athelete we have at the qb position. Its all in my posts. I never thought chase was what he has been blown up too. good numbers but against weak teams. Not a very big guy. Would make a dandy backup but our coaches have their heads up their butts. No qb's ready to play but chase. Is litton doc's nephew or something?As of today, if chase is ready then he is our only option.

You cant burn a red shirt until the end of the year,,,is that right? So we redshirt gaines and he doesnt see the field until chase graduates. well he could play one year. Why a qb wants to come here it cant be to actually play
Gaines wasn't even at MU in the Spring and was a distant 3rd on the depth chart to Morrell coming out of Fall camp. Gaines has potential but he is very raw and needs time to develop as a QB.
True but Gaines can run...we haven't had a running QB that can punish the defense since Mike Peyton!
What are you smoking crack? Gaines is an athlete at this time, not a QB, and Morrell can run the read option very well as he showed a couple of times, but Legg isn't going to call it a bunch. Litton is by far the best QB on the current roster and considered one of the 2-3 best in CUSA.
Chase tweeted this morning, "We back". Read it however you want. Coach Fuller gave us NO insight on his status at QB Club today.
Litton has alot to do this year. Lets see how he does. Being the best qb on our roster seems to be nothing. Ourbackups cant run the offense. You dont have 3 qb's your tettering on destruction
Chase is the 3rd or 4th best qb in one of the worst leauges in the country. I dont drink the green-kool aid
And there it is. Sisters hating on Litton again. Those of you questioning Litton realize he posted the best freshman season of any QB in Herd history right? That includes Pennington and Cato. He also did it in less games.
People clamoring for Gaines just cause he can run is a stupid reason. Are we just going to run the option all day? He's an extremely raw passer who really wasn't developed in HS.
Doc said on NSD he saw Gaines at WR/TE.
He'll get his shot to develop at QB but if he doesn't make leaps and bounds he'll be moved.

And if you thought for one second we'd start calling designed run plays for Gaines rught now if he came in, in relief of Litton you're drunk.

Let me help you with your math skills.......If it worked out that way, Gaines will be a Redshirt Freshman next year and Chase will be a Junior. Therefore, Gaines would have two years to play after Chase graduates.

You should probably work on that before you start criticizing QBs for not being able to run our offense.
After 40 years of supporting marshall with thousands of dollars I get rode hard for not believing Chase is nearly as good as chad or Leftwich or Peyton. Never said he was a bum. He is a fine youg man from a good family. I dont think players should ever visit message boards. I would probably never mention a player by name if I honestly thought they read th. I want chase to go to Pitt and to something great. I honestly think after the concussion and sitting out it could hurt him. Please dont say I called him a bum, gee whiz. No wonder chase took a vicious hit and it messed him up. Coaches dropped the ball on that. That was not chase's fault. Playing with a concussion for 3 quarters does show me some toughness in Littons. Now what about McManus :sp: 1 year and 3 games of dropping footballs. He needs to be replaced. Cant play a kid cause he looks like tarzan but plays like jane.

WKU's QB "retired" after 10 years in college and the MTSU & So. Miss QBs aren't exactly burning it up so far.
I personally think Chase is in the argument for top QB in C-USA.
Litton has 33 TDs and only 11 INTs in 13 starts with a career pass efficiency rating of 140.65--I'd say Litton is doing pretty good.
