it is only a matter of time before we read the following news alert from Huntington:
Thundering Herd mascot being terminated at Marshall
Sad news today as MU President Boyd Seivers announced the scrapping of “Thundering Herd” as the mascot for MU. Seivers cited concerns that the Buffalo did not defend itself well enough in the 19th century to avoid being slaughtered nearly to the point of extinction. The resulting lack of meat caused the indigenous peoples to starve and ultimately forced the native Americans onto reservations. “We just can’t afford to be labeled as insensitive to any group of people, past or present.” Seivers stated the University is considering several replacement mascots, including the Forensic Fallopian Tubes and the Hapless Hillbillies....
