I just read a sports column where the writer was critical of both Marshall and Vermont soccer teams because there were too many international players on the rosters. He said it took scholarships away from American players.

I guess if big rich schools like Ohio State can spend tens of millions to buy football players, it is just fine, but if smaller, poorer schools find a legal way to compete in a sport like soccer, it isn’t fair. Got it.

Marshall has offered Houston Christian DL Zae Smith.

Smith is a grad transfer with 1 year of eligibility.

One thermometer said 14 this morning, another said -2. Not sure which one is right, but it is cold enough that the deck boards on my front entrance crack when I walk across them.

I have read several posts and news articles about sections of the Cam being covered with tarps. Is this a temporary solution to attendance or structural problems or has it been done for other reasons? Any plans to refurbish the facility or rearrange the seating? Seems kind of tacky to simply cover up half your arena.

Really nice win over JMU, preseason #2. We didn’t fold late, and the new guys were the difference imo. Only a 1/4 or so through conference, but I’m liking this team.
