HERDNATION.COM 10/3 Basketball Practice Report (Free Content)

Not sure how we are set with available scholarships. Anyone know how many are available for 2018-19? Milan is only senior we lose off this year's team. Not sure if Elmore returns next season; probably will have his degree this year, if he doesn't have it already.

Any idea how many players Coach D. plans to sign in the early LOI date starting in November? Total number of scholarships available?

Know its not his preferred recruiting method, but believe we would be better off if the Herd this season would have gone after, and gotten, a stud power forward type from a junior college, in the 6'7"-6-8" range. Still feel we are going to be weak on the interior, especially defensively and with rebounding.

Look at the description of roster players. Thieneman more of a perimeter player, big guard. Penava not a "power" player, despite a lot of weight gain. Bledsoe needed/needs a redshirt year. Georgia kid coming off redshirt with NO D1 experience. Talented forward, thin, from VA, probably would benefit from a redshirt; foreign juco player not as big as thought; and Milan still lacks talent. NOT that impressive as a group overall in our frontline in terms of quality and experience especially if one or more starters get into serious foul trouble, like Penava. In last 2 seasons, we had a least ONE veteran front court stopper defensively, who could also add some inside offensive firepower: Kelly and Taylor. Just don't see anyone who could fill said role on this season's squad at the moment.

Danny will have to be creative with his scholarships. The only scholarship senior is Millan.
We presently have 12 on scholarship for next year. You can't forget that we have Bennett and Robinette that will be counted. He only has 1 scholarship to give and he has 2 or 3 players he wants. Expect him to sign at least 2 for next year next month.
