BREAKING 2019 Football Schedule Released

Boise is obviously very random but has good notoriety to attract anyone. I'm not sure how well they travel though.

But supporting your statement, VT is obviously the biggest draw we'll have.

I think Hamrick's trying to get teams with some sort of relationship with MU in a way, which will help with more people showing up.

I guess its subjective on how people look at teams coming. Purdue isn't exactly a powerhouse in football but their conference association brought out interest and gave us big attendance.

I personally don't care if the opposing team has a relationship with Marshall. I'd rather see a team like Temple, Duke, Illinois, Arkansas State, Fresno, Vandy, Army and K-State then to play Akron, Miami (OH), Liberty, and Coastal.

I’ve always thought Wake Forest makes a lot of sense from a geo standpoint. I don’t think some in the admin will ever get over Tacy being lured away to Winston Salem! We did play them a series in basketball around the time Tim Duncan was their rising star.....

I like the idea of playing Liberty. I think they might be the next up-and-coming success story in football because they have unlimited funds to spend on sports...their university is basically a non-profit organization
with unrestricted limitations on spending their millions contributed each year.

I remember we played WF in basketball but couldn't remember when it occurred .

WF wouldn't be a bad football series. Easy drive for the local fans and plenty of alumni in NC. I'm sure WF has their OOC schedule set for the foreseeable future though.

Since we scheduled the Boise series, perhaps that means Hamrick is willing to schedule a few more of those Mountain West schools every few years.

I don't have a problem with that. If you're playing the G5, might as well play the best.

IF the next "great realignment" is not a total blow up of the system (and I still think it will be) but just a few teams shifting around, then CUSA should B E G Liberty to join. It has 1000 times the potential of most CUSA schools, is a natural geographic rival to MU and others, and has R I C H and L O Y A L alumni. (For my Spamite friends, replace "Liberty" in the above sentence with "BYU" and make other appropriate revisions, and same advice.)

There's a reason why nobody wanted them. College presidents have better morals than you and don't want to be associated with a school that is bigoted towards gays, was founded by a guy and his son who blamed 9/11 on the ACLU/gays/feminists/pagans, and represents plenty of other disgusting beliefs.

Sure, their money/potential would be nice, but not at the cost of being associated and given credibility to their filth. Have some ethics.

All the more reason to give them an annual butt-kicking on the football field.

$$$wise, their money would buy our money. So, their mascot, The Flames, has a tie in with Hell?

I, for one, do not subscribe to the teachings of The Fighting Falwells and I am not happy that we are even helping them by scheduling a 1 for 1 with them. However, I do find it amusing that they are so bigoted against gays yet they chose “Flames” as their mascot.

And they just hired a head coach who was fired at his last stop for buying escorts and using his state-paid-for cell phone to arrange the trysts with the hookers.

But heaven forbid if you have a glass of wine at 20 years old. If you do, and if they have proof of it, there is a good chance you will get expelled.

Tacy left 47 years ago. Any admin. at Marshall in 1972 have long since retired........or passed away.

The NCAA and big time college athletics are full of ethics and morals for sure. They would never be influenced by money.

I don't really have an issue with this schedule as a whole... Boise State will be ranked when we go there, which in my estimation is better than playing a garbage P5 team.

It does suck that we are stuck watching VMI (the worst program in the Southern Conference) in what should be a first-half runaway followed by extended parking lot drinking.

Best case scenario... We split Boise/Cincy and win the other two non-league games and then go 7-1 in CUSA for a 10-2 regular season and a division title.

Worst case scenario... We get it handed to us by both Boise and Cincy, drop one against Ohio and go 5-3 in the league for a 6-6 finish.

I would bet on something in the middle, maybe 8-4.

How dare the man(rest his soul) take a job at Wake Forest in the ACC. He should have stayed at Marshall!

For what it's worth, Boise State opens the season against Florida State on a neutral field (well, Jacksonville).
