375 top scientists warn of 'real, serious, immediate' climate threat

And some good news.

http://sciencebulletin.org/archives/5347.html

Acidity in atmosphere has been reduced to preindustrial revolution amounts. Remember the talk about acid rain in the 70's? The environmental regulations back in the 70s were effective. Changing how we allow chemicals to enter into our atmosphere hasn't destroyed the economy or bankrupted the companies that were guilty of polluting. So positive changes can be made.

No worries there from either ticket.

Yep, because global warming is so important to you, that you are willing to allow a climate change denier the opportunity to take the nation and thus the world to some degree several steps back from doing anything serious about it.

Ah...I see where you're going now. You are framing my comments between some contrived and narrow parameter in order to give the appearance that you're scoring some kind of victory. Ain't playing that game. But if I did, I'd just simply remind you that a democrat...one you voted for...has held office the last 8 years while carbon emissions continue to rise. Excuse me if I'm not overwhelmed with confidence for your party too.

But since I don't care to be sucked into the vacuum of mindless argument, forget I even mentioned it. :)

Just trying to figure out what is your main voting issue. Judging from the fact that you've voted for r's at the top of the ticket for many years, won't vote for fighting climate change, abortion doesnt seem to be a big issue with you, and seems guns aren't that important, the only thing I can figure is you're a devout supply sider.

Didn't they also say there was an ice age coming in the late 70's and early 80's?

You are referring to the 1974 Time Magazine sensational Ice Age cover. Newsweek ran something similar. This has been a stock reply from denialist and has been addressed on here before. The problem is, although the headline was sensational, it didn't represent the majority of scientific thought at the time.

A survey of peer reviewed papers from 1965 to 1979 by the American Meteorlogical Society showed that the predominance of the papers predicting climate change predicted warming not cooling. In fact, out of 49 studies, 7 predicted global cooling while 42 predicted warming due to...get this...CO2. So warming was predicted six times more than cooling.

But when you're selling magazines the eye catching covers made for good marketing but it wasn't reflective of the scientific thought at the time.

But even with faced with those facts, the denialist keep repeating the same old ..."didn't they predict an ice age in the 70s?"

Here's the study in case you want to know the truth...

But even if it is true, we don't have to worry about new regulations. the way this world is moving we will be back to the dark ages and anarchy before we ever have any problems with global warming and if you believe the global warming thing, the earth will heal itself. The world is going crazy. Everyone has gotten so "it my group that is the only one that is important and f$%k everyone else" I am concerned we will never get back to a civil condition. why can't we all just get along.

The only way to save the planet now is raise taxes on everyone, and sing kum ba ya around frivolous treaties that our military and economic enemies will use against us..........yep..........that will save us from imminent doom.

The signs of the world are point towards a WW1 type situation. I would would worry more about that and economic collapse over it getting a little warmer.

Ok, ok...I'm finishing Breakfast of Champions and I have Catcher in the Rye on deck. THEN I'll read Lord of the Rings. But wasn't I suppose to read Dune first? I'm so confused.

LOL, my legacy depends on who I vote for. Have to admit EG poses a legitimate question here, because if this is your lead issue then this article here pretty much says you will burn in hell forever if you don't vote for Hillary.

Are you willing to be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity? To live out the rest of your life as a wretched, lowly hillbilly Neanderthal who continues to ignore all this out of selfishness?

I know I am.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
