Ah man...not Morgan Freeman

Here’s the thing I don’t get about famous people like Cosby, Weinstein, and Freeman....you’re rich...you’re famous...why do you have to force yourself inappropriately on women. You’ll get enough consensual and you’re rich enough to buy it if you can’t. This is more about living in the vacuum of fame and fortune and never being held responsible. The same thing with athletes. And society perpetuates this stuff with how we idolize/worship those who are famous. Somebody along the way needs to call these people on their behavior.

How this is shocking to people is beyond me. It’s a power thing plain and simple

I agree it's a power thing for some people. However, I'm not sure where you're coming from on this shocking people. I just haven't seen any shock. What I see with Freeman is disappointment. He seems like a nice enough guy to me that it's disappointing because how much I liked him.

I'm more shocked that in 2018, people don't realize that men with lots of money and/or in their position of power, have their way with women, regardless of whether it's forced or not.

It's been like this since the Mayflower landed.

I don't think that speaks to the point nor do I believe that you (nor 429) are correct in believing that you guys somehow have a greater understanding of the realities of the world. You don't. People aren't shocked that this is happening. They're fed up. What should be judged here isn't whether there is some kind of collective naiveté and shock by people. What should be judged is whether these entitled people should be called out for using force with women. I don't care if this was written into the Mayflower Compact or part of the Constitution. These athletes and movie stars (or whomever) should be called out.

First, as a qualifier, I don't give two shits about the movie stars, athletes, CEOs, etc. Secondly, when I see a nice rack or nice ass, I'm going to continue to gawk at it, and think to myself, damn, that's a nice rack or nice ass. Unfortunately, that's as far as I can go with it, as my wife would beat my ass if I was inappropriate.

I need to qualify as well...the like is for your wife.

I haven't read all of the allegations, but what are the worst of them? One lady (an entertainment reporter) was on a network today that I saw, and her claim was that he was inappropriate to her during one interview. She even had video of it. What she claimed was inappropriate wasn't even mildly out-of-line.

Gwyneth Paltrow was on Howard Stern this morning. I listened to just about all of the 90 minute interview (Stern is an extremely underrated interviewer; he truly is an expert at his craft). She discussed how her boyfriend at the time, Brad Pitt, threatened Weinstein after Harvey was inappropriate toward her in a hotel room.

He first asked if she wanted to get mutual massages together, which she accepted. Then, he invited her up to his room, which she also accepted. They had been alone together previously and she felt comfortable according to her. At some point, she felt uncomfortable in his hotel room. She didn't say he forced himself on her, wouldn't let her leave, etc.

So, did he hit on her? Try kissing her? Ask her to hook up? Who knows, but I'm hoping there is a hell of a lot more on Freeman than what Paltrow had against Weinstein.

Yes, I know dirtballs force themselves on women, make inappropriate comments, etc. I know Cosby and Weinstein are included in those. But shit goes way too far when women are trying to out guys and ruin their names simply for them hitting on them or attempting (not by force) to hook up.

If a guy has power and the girl wants to use his power to help her career, it isn't wrong of him to get something out of it (sexually) if she is simply "persuaded" to join in hopes it helps her career. If you don't want to suck him off, then have better morals and/or find a different way to advance your career.

I *think* part af the rub here is that Hollywood gets on their high horse about #metoo or whatever....

When we all know (many times) consensual BJ for play was a way of life there just like you’re saying. The same people in Hollywood bashing Romney’s “binders full of women” as a misogynistic thing are part of a culture where if you sleep with the right guy you make it to the top.

Sure, that culture is not unique to Hollywood but it sure seems like more and more people are starting to suggest it is problematic there probably more so than things like medicine or the tech sector et al.

I may be completely wrong here, but my perception is that this sort of sex for favors thing is more predominant in the entertainment industry.

I definitely agree with the “hitting on them” interpreted as harassment thing going too far.

There are bad actors out there but in the wrong college campus I’d imagine it’s treacherous being an awkward but horny and harmless guy trying to get laid.

Stern is amazing. I haven’t listened in years but he can pull crazy stories out of them. He knows when to push and when to back off.

There’s a funny John Cena fat chick stern interview out there that is a trip.
