Are there any upgrades/repairs scheduled for the Joan prior to our opening game? Like replacing worn out urinals and leaking toilets that all of us common folk (not MH or Dr G) have to use?

if we could just update the restrooms and expand the concourse with some new nice wrought iron fencing I would be very happy.
Geez Josh how many more years before those toilets get repaired? Pretty disgusting as they are now. MH and the Pres should have to use them during a game. Probably get repaired ASAP!
Mu spent the money painting the field goal posts and cleaning up random, possible, blood spots on the bleachers in the Cam.

People would complain that the fencing had a different look than they were expecting, the expanded concourse doesn't have more stuff, and the restrooms weren't as good as <insert P5 school we can't financially compete with>.
Marshall athletics are basically the Rock Ridge of college sports.

Yeah MH and Gilbert proud - as we all are - of “new” facilities but letting the two largest facilities on campus fall into disrepair.
I’m sure if you made a large donation specific to those issues that it would garner their attention.

I guess you’re missing the point. Money is an issue. Whether people want to acknowledge that or not, Marshall does not have the money to do a lot of what fans want to see done.
I agree Josh. I guess we all (fans) should be wishing for some Access Bowl payout. Speaking of that, if the Herd were to ever reach an Access Bowl, would we have to revenue share with C-USA?

So here’s the question... should Marshall be building new facilities without being able to fix the ones they have? The Joan has been open for how long, 27 years? We haven’t been putting money back for repairs in that time? What about the cam? The argument that “we don’t have enough money” is a cop out. You make the budget. IN that budget you make sure there is a place for facility maintenance, if that’s not being done then that’s a problem at the top.
There’s a lot going on behind the scenes in regards to those new facilities. As I’m told, those new facilities came at the requests of a few of our larger donors specific to those sports.
Come on Josh. You do not always have to be so defensive of the athletic department. Walk around under the stands of the Joan. Go in the toilets. Go up to the top row of the HC and look at the paint peeling off. Might as well visit the restrooms in the HC as well. I mean if the Marshall cannot afford to replace them surely they can simply reseat/reseal all the toilets. Those urinals in the men’s toilets are disgusting and should have been replaced years ago. Been to a lot of other stadiums in CUSA Josh and while they may not be as big or nice as the Joan the facilities are generally up to date and clean. Not very nice for visitors come to Huntington and Marshall and go in to a restroom that is leaking piss all over the floor and toilets stopped up.
Seems like so much of Marshall's revenue comes from such a small segment of the fanbase that the average fan is sort of seen like a nuisance. If you want clean bathrooms near your section, you need to get your checkbook out and make a donation large enough that somebody lasers your name into the acrylic barriers between the urinals.

I always appreciate common sense and it seems like common sense to make a few repairs/upgrades to the facility.
If my/your home had a toilet that leaked or backed up, or a 1980's horse trough urinal that was rusting out, leaked, smelled bad and was pretty much in every way awful. I/you would have them fixed or replaced.
The Joan doesn't need a full on remodel, it needs like two or three "small" projects to update it with the times and make it more user friendly. Fix the restrooms up, paint the under side of the bleachers, pressure wash/paint the "luxury" boxes... Boom, stadium looks better and is more functional.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see repairs made, but most fans want a complete overhaul of the Joan’s restrooms, which was what I was referencing when I said we didn’t have the money.
And the maintenance staff can’t help when some dumbass walks in a stall and puts paper towels, beer cans, liquor bottles, etc down in a toilet and flushes it.
At some point people have to take on some accountability with their actions or lack thereof.

- Are the restrooms in a totally sad shape? No, but they are getting that way, gutting them down to the bare walls and replacing everything is about due anyway.

- Is the "others should pay for what I want" mentality truly sad? Yes, and a symptom of what is wrong with the entire region.

licious I don’t know about you but my seats are in Section 214 so I use the restrooms on ground level. Since I am in 214 and have more than one seat you do the math. Do sit there typing someone needs to pay more money to simply repair and clean the restrooms. Now unless you do not go to games, do not sit in the stands, or somehow do not care about the cleanliness of the toilets fine. Others do however and no one needs to make any contribution to the athletic department for maintenance as that is already in the budget. I, nor anyone else, posted a complete overhaul of the public restrooms. They simply need to replace the “horse trough” urinals and reseat/reseal commodes and paint the place. JMO

I'll volunteer to fix the leaky urinals, but one of you other a-holes are going to have to clean yagi's pee stains prior to me commencing work.
We used to just piss against the wall like we were in a random alley, so the trough is still considered fancy by most.
