When is the last time you’ve been down here? Seriously. Hot bed is subjective but the fan support by collegiate teams all across the triangle is pretty phenomenal…regardless of their records. NC state specifically have a very strong fan attendance in all sports when playing at home.

I am sure you are. 80% of Marshall’s fan base is within 100 miles of Huntington. I would say most schools are like that as well. But the point was fans do drive to games all over the place, Marshall included,

Lived in the area for years. I’ve been to home Duke ACC opponent football games with about 500 people in the stands.
Currently live here? Duke football attendance has even improved the last couple of years. Nc state, and even UNC have far greater fan attendance despite rarely contending for conference titles.
The point is…Appy can fill their stadium. Despite a majority of their fans having to drive from hours away.
Let’s see how that fill it now after losing to James Madison. One year they filled it a few times, big shit. Butts in seats, not tickets sold.
Hell if Huntington had a million people like the triangle we could fill the Joan every Saturday as well.
I wasn’t the one claiming this area wasn’t a “hot bed”.
Huntington was one mediocre team. The Joan should be filled regardless. The RTP has 3 major college programs. 2 small college programs, and countless other entertainment options to pull fans away on game day.
Boone is isolated and the whole town and student body can’t fill their stadium, so naturally people are gonna have to drive further to take in a game. That’s not rocket science. Frankly, hope they do fill it. Good for the school. We’ll see if they fall off the band wagon or not.
