CNN acquired TWC

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, the Weather Channel defended Seidel’s coverage, saying that he was standing on wet grass and was “undoubtedly exhausted.”
“It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted,” the network said.

This may be the lowest-effort spin I've ever seen.

The Cape Fear River is going to crest 27 ft above flood stage near Fayetteville and yes I wrote 27 ft above flood stage. If you are a mile on either side of that river you need to get out now.

The amount of rain has been unreal. This storm has been unreal. Swansboro NC has had 31 inches of rain. Yes, 31 inches.

The rain is not done. The flooding you are seeing in New Bern, NC was caused by surge. New Bern is on the river miles from the opening to the sound.

The flooding is not done yet, you will see the some of the big stuff next week when the rivers rise. The Waccammaw is SOuth Carolina is going to set a record that was just set two weeks ago.

We still have not seen what this is going to do to Western NC.

This has been unreal. Two major interstates have sections closed and Lumberton is getting ready to go under again.

The whole rankings for hurricanes need to be looked at and not just base it on wind scale. Needs to be a combo of wind, rain, surge, etc.

Do you still think it’s a dud?
surge overall was lower overall that what was predicted, however the wind field widened and the thing stalled which lead to all this rain. However, places like New Bern got a whale of a surge but they were on that northeast side. My place in SC ended up with about a 2 foot surge, but if would have not weakened and still hit where it did I would have maybe got a 6 to 8 and at 8 it might have bent me over. At 4 and 6 I have a pucker factor(which I have for a week now) At 8 I am going to have to get lucky. At a Cat 4 everybody would have been bent over from Charleston to Norfolk the way that thing came in.

13 up around Topsail and that area would have been like a Tsunami.

This storm should be ranked a 5 because of all the water.

Years ago Hugo put a 13 ft surge on Myrtle Beach area and hit down at Bull's Bay(McClellenville) just north of charleston and I think it may have put down 8 to 10 inches of rain. But, it came through like a big bowling ball with wind. I think they said it was moving at 15mph and this thing is moving at 2 or 3 mph.

Pick your poison and big punch or a bunch of body shots. Either way, you lose. There are no good outcomes.

Every chaser I know down there is basically giving quick updates and instead they are helping with getting people out. And the quick updates are nuts, water over bridges and stuff like that.

It is bad, very bad. The worst is yet to come next week. The amounts of water are immense. There are some videos of water spouts off Myrtle today. Didn't do much damage from what I hear but good water spout videos.
Lots of tornado activity in the area. They are smaller tornadoes but screw you up quickly. If it blows your house in or flips your car you are hosed. So, it is all relative.

I can't describe the amounts of rain and water are insane.
