I've been critical of how the team has looked and played, and I will

Yeah I mean that was an epic collapse. And kudos to huff and staff for not letting that completely implode the rest of the year. But you can't ignore it. Especially with past history like bowling green
If MU and Huff had lost last night, I'd have been dragged through the coals and belittled into oblivion by 97% of this board...it also would have legitimized GA Southern, something I felt fans should look past until the season is over...only then would it either matter or not.
Clearly, it doesn't matter since MU is doing the mantra of "Playing for Championships."

I've been hard on huff but I thought we should have at least given him a one year extension going into this year.
IMO it’s the Hamrick contingent who remain that are intentionally working to get Huff out sooner than later. If I were Huff I would be looking to leave ASAP too. Many in this fan base are impossible.

Seriously asking this question?? We have 40 new players on the team alone this year. With the portal, how many of those roll out if Huff leaves? How many will leave even if Huff stays??? I wouldn't be surprised if you dont have 30% or more of turnover every year moving forward. It's not just about coaching ability X's and O's anymore. It's about someone knowing how to manage recruitment via the portal now. Any coaching change for any program is going to be a huge risk.
It’s all hearsay at the moment. I feel like if he wanted to be here he would be. But it may or may not be a mutual decision. Who knows, no one has any answers at this point.
It doesn't if he stays. In the new era of college football, it most likely does if he leaves. New coaches, new systems, new expectations and... new players. Big risk having coaching turnover.

If we get new HC with new non air raid offense and new defensive staff/philosophy both requiring heavy roster rework that to me is total rebuild.

They went from a winning % of 84 to 66....yep, nothing changed.
We get it. You want Huff gone and you think no risk in changing coaches.
Such is life as a g5 school. It's the way it is for everyone with the portal and NIL
Lol total rebuild with 8 wins. We should be worried if that is a total rebuild. It's ok to admit you were wrong and just making a blanket statement because it sounded good in your head.
Is it risky? sure. It's always been risky. To say that a new coach automatically means a total rebuild is asinine.
I'm not a Huff fan, used to be, but I don't like a lot of the things he has said. I also don't think he wants to be here. With all of that being said if he comes back its fine. He has won enough games this year to justify it. I don't think it will matter though.
It just any G5 school...Marshall isn't exactly a bastion of economic wealth...it's nobody's dream destination currently.
Charles Huff is not in the same realm as Curt Cignetti.
We’re going to have 40-50 new players next year and every year going forward regardless.
Huff is just as likely to be 6-7 next year or 9-3 again.
If he doesn’t want to be here, hire the right person who does and move on.
Coaching hires don’t set back or define your program for a decade any longer.
W the portal and NIL, you’re 50/50 at best odds of keeping your stars season to season.
Huff or someone new, I guarantee you in July we’ll have no genuine idea of what kind of season we’re looking at.

You were agreeing with (and defending) the statement that a new coach meant a total rebuild.
Yes, the idea that a new coach does not mean a total rebuild is... radical. I'm just thankful you guys put up with me because of all my crazy ideas like: its possible to still have success and continue to build without CH being our coach.
I said it "was likely" if he leaves. And seeing that several agreed with me, says I am more likely correct than you suggesting "no worries"..
Which points to why having some stability in the area of HC is critical.
Tell that to SMiss and some of the other historically successful big-time programs who have begun to flounder the last few years.
With all the other challenges (NIL) now placed on the head coach in the college ranks, you better hire the right guy. That's the one part of program you want stability.
I never said "no worries" I wish our Head Coach wanted to be here. It seems he doesn't. So let's find someone who does. He had a good year this year, lets make sure we don't miss on this next hire.
